Simple idea.
What's in your pocket? What's the TL 3 (fantasy) equivalent? Give it the following 3d6 number for randomization purposes 1,1,4 is followed by 1,1,5 2,1,6 is followed by 2,2,1 etc This space reserved for index

Keys - house key - car key - key to car on other side of the country that isn't really mine - key to nothing in particular that's sharp and kept to cut tape and boxes - old fashioned key I keep to make the key ring distinctive - random key I have no idea what it does Wallet - 20 dollars - three money cards, one of which only works for medical purposes - Health insurance Card - (valid) library cards to two cities on opposite sides of the city - Mormon temple recommends for myself and my wife. (lets you in) Smart Phone - older, larger, a single crack running across the center, minimalist battered case Fantasy equivalent: various keys, including one very ornate one. Most do not go to anything. Gurps $25 Paper or token granted access to various civic and religous buildings in multiple locations. I'm not sure if anything else should be added to the fantasy list. This is my standard loadout for work, but I work from home and when I leave you're likely to add a notebook and pencil as well. I also feel like the smartphone is going to through this off. I live in a rural community, though my pockets are not typical of someone there.

1,1,4: Keys, on a belt hanger. Handkerchief. Comb. Loose coins. Wallet: Cash, postage stamps, bank cards, bus pass, professional association cards, old receipts.
Edit: forgot solar-powered watch that takes its time reference from a radio broadcast. I guess that's a magic item in fantasy terms. Fantasy equivalent: Keys on a lanyard. Handkerchief, comb, coins in several currencies. Guild membership card.

About $15 in small bills and coins, in the event I need to use public transit. The only thing routinely in my pockets...if I need a wallet, smartphone or various other things to accomplish a specific task I'll grab them on my way out. Default wallet is a nightmare...3 sets of ID (none of them currently valid), medical card (invalid), library cards (to libraries in other states), bank cards (one of which is valid), a ragged personal photograph, probably a few business cards, and a large fistful of 1976 US quarters. Smartphone is a really obscure Android one. I am a barrel of red herring >.> |
