My main question with that is... how in the world can you have lots of events if the death rate is 40%?

I figure... the AADA had to tone it down in order to get a viable sport franchise out of it. BLUD would have a lot fewer matches-- it'd have to....

Most BLUD related fiction and scenarios of the 80s/90s cast them as a much lower tier of social class. The BLUD dueling scene seems to have much less money in it, and less fancy vehicles. AADA duelists almost always outclass their BLUD peers.

Which is not to say that it couldn't be re-imagined. But in my mind, BLUD will always be kind of a fringe, poor step-sister to the AADA. Except in some specific geographic areas... most of which are pretty poor/remote themselves.

When you're beating around the bush, and it's getting in the way of people clearly understanding what you're talking about, then either self-censor and not even reference the product in any way shape or form, or else just call it what it is, and clearly identify it as GW property that SJG had absolutely nothing to do with.

Maybe my two bit flea pits arenas are BLUD affiliates.

And do we really think GW is going to have a forum war with SJG?

I look at AADA duels as an analogue to medieval tourneys. Skilled warriors showing off their honor, bravery, and combat prowess. Deaths are a possibility, but not the point of the game.

BLUD duels, I see as straight up violence-porn bloodsport, like the later roman arena games, where the object was to watch slaves die interestingly and brutally rather than any sort of "competition" . BLUD drivers are probably criminals, psycho-killers, and folks who've been kicked out of the AADA for rules infractions. You don't see BLUD duels on TV. you watch them pay-per-view, paid internet streams, or on illicit data cubes sold under-the-counter.

From a gameplay perspective want BLUD duels to be high-risk, high-reward. So I usually say the club is supported by organized crime syndicates. (hence the high prize money)

BLUD should be motorcycle duelling.

I think the AADA would sanction cycle races and duels, but admittedly they are pretty fatal, use of the hospitalization rules and probably house-ruled body armor would be a good idea.

BLUD duels on the other hand, would release ped and cycle gangs into their arenas during auto events to "spice-things-up".
