Default Re: Is initiating HTH overpowered?

Having stomped a mouse in my own "hex", as well as killing one with a broom handle in my front "hex" (loooooong story not relevant to the example) I can safely attest that stomping is much easier, although the cleanup is decidedly unsettling.

It's not that hitting a smaller adversary in your own hex with a weapon is impossible, it's just that it is much harder than simply stomping with your foot. Relative size of the target and type of weapon used are both going to influence the difficulty in highly variable ways.

Just in general, if the giant is required to roll 3/DX to successfully stomp a rabbit, it should be required to roll 4/DX to hit said bunny with its weapon. The latter is less certain, but at least its shoes stay clean.

But hitting a human trapped between its legs with a weapon shouldn't be as hard as hitting the rabbit because the size difference is much less acute. Perhaps only a small DX penalty. In fact, if the human's is pinned between the giant's legs, head forwards, it might be more like swinging for a golf ball standing on a tee.

This has grown rather dark and unspeakable, so I'll just end with YMMV

So, for that person at last SJ's semi-official comments are a revision.
Ah, you were being kind to others. Always a good approach.

Okay, but who's option is it? The giant's or the 1 hex person's?

I suspect the rule was changed because giants were too deadly otherwise while at the same time adding a second attack that is different (making it more than just another stack for ST to fight). Or, ne can argue they should be deadlier.

Man in plate and tower shield gets knocked over (his DX is too low to save due to armor) then hit by club for 3+3 (tower shield no longer helps) and ends up taking 3-2 damage every turn... The best defense is a high DX but without the armor if you miss the save or if the giant gets lucky you are dead.

I would argue that since the person failed the save, it is the giant that gets the option. I do think they should be deadlier and this will add another interesting choice for the giant player to make.

I would say the giant gets to choose, both because hugely powerful people should be dangerous in melee combat (who here would be afraid to get into a boxing ring with a 7 year old?), and because I don't think it makes sense for someone who just failed a DX roll and got knocked on their backside to dictate terms as to what their foe does next.

What's the 7 year old look like? Does he have tattoos?

Hi Lars,
I got to say I really like it being an option for the giant. Yes, terrifying.
