Yes, the DK was thought to be about 6 miles in diameter which leads to an estimate of 200 billion tons. In Spaceships this would round up to 300 billion tins and SM+25 and 50,000. dHP. With all the ferrophillic iridium in the K-T boundary layer that marks the impact a nickel-iron asteroid is indicated. 6 layers of iron armor as per S7 gets you dDR 1500 per layer. or dDR 9000. Put that against the "direct" (but non-coontact)hit of a 10 megaton bomb doind 8D x10,000 and you get 280,000 pts of damage -9000 or 271,000. That takes you to -4x HP and the asteroid might still be "intact" for a loose defintion of that word. Follow up with a second 10 megatonner just enough later to avoid fratricide and you'll be very close to-10 x HP and space dust status. You'd be there if you didn't count the armor on the second hit (as if it had ablated away). If you hire a bunch of over the hll oil industry roughnecks to dig you a hole and bury your bomb you can use a single 2.5 megaton device.

This is the same logic that let's you sink the HMS Victoy with a few thousand 9mm rounds though. Probably at least use "Extreme Damage" here.

There's been a sort of Starkely Incredible creep since the 1930s. Back then no one had even dropped a bomb that weighed more than 1000-2000 lbs. 10 million times that is a lot.

I wil tell you one thing. 10 megatons is a _lot_. It's more than 600 times the size of the bomb that destroyed Hiroshima and 20 times the size of the main warhead of the modern US strategic arsenal.
