"Munchkin" for that style of playing RPGs goes back to 1980 or earlier, and there were alternative terms, such as "Irvings". I believe the immediate inspiration for the card game was The Munchkin's Guide to Powergaming, which was published as humour.

The problem is mostly is that it's not really relevant or funny satire. It's kind of boring and repetitive.

This thread isn't, though, which is a real plus.

Dunno, the thread was pretty much won by the third post. Anything after that is good, but not good enough to rival the one in the lead.

Quality,

How about real men like their polearms differentiated more by game effect than nomeculture. (Although to be fair that's edition dependent)

Real Men want to be able to destroy all life in the universe with only 50 points!

Yes, I took it for granted that everyone knew that set of categories. It turns up, for example, in the Laundry Files rpg, in a scrawled note by Bob Howard where he's trying to decide which of his co-workers fills which slot when he's assigned to evaluate how dangerous the Laundry Files rpg is to the Laundry!

In fact, I think of that as the new fourfold classification. The older one was "powergamer, wargamer, roleplayer, storyteller."

Bunnies & Burrows.

If Shakespeare had played RPGs:

"If we are mark'd to die, we are enough
To do our party loss; and if to live,
The fewer men, the greater share of XP."

Somebody already figured out how to do that, just about, it's in a/the 50 point powers (or something) thread

I don't think Loony fits in that list, so now there are 5
