Behold! The Power of Cheese!

Scientists recently determined that the mysterious substance a 3,600-year-old necklace (found around the neck of an entombed, mummified woman) was made from was, in fact, kefir cheese. This makes this the oldest cheese ever discovered.

I must agree with the researcher. DO NOT EAT THE ANCIENT CHEESE.

That's right up there with DO NOT REMOVE THE GOLDEN EYE FROM THE UNNATURALLY LARGE HOLY WOMAN'S SKELETON.

Don't eat the tomb cheese. Don't drink the sarcophagus juice. Don't thaw out the permafrost worms.

Sheesh, and people wonder why scientists have the image of being no fun.

US man, 81, sentenced to six months for creating giant hybrid sheep for hunting

Quote:
An 81-year-old Montana man was sentenced on Monday to six months in federal prison for illegally using tissue and testicles from large sheep hunted in central Asia and the US to create hybrid sheep for captive trophy hunting in Texas and Minnesota.
Quote:
The animal has been confiscated by the US Fish and Wildlife Service and is being held in an accredited facility until it can be transferred to a zoo, said Richard Bare, a special agent with the wildlife service.
Unless some PCs bust it out for [reasons].

Or it develops powers and runs amuck...

Exactly what did he do that is illegal? AFAIK there's no law against cloning or breeding livestock, people do weird reproductive stuff to domesticated animals and pets all the time.

He used parts from invasive species. In Montana, that's a huge no-no. He also wasn't exactly using an accredited facility or taking any particular precautions to prevent diseases from being accidentally released.

At first glance, smuggling meat/DNA into the US...

two felony wildlife crimes – a conspiracy to violate the Lacey Act and substantively violating the Lacey Act

So basically, bought from a poacher and smuggled it into the country instead of buying from a legit dealer and filling out the proper import/export forms. Sounds a lot less exciting that way doesn't it?

Most crimes are crimes because you did it, or didn't do it, a certain way.

He might also, conceivably, be chargeable under some animal cruelty laws, depending on the details.
