Default Orage/Purple Set Questions

Is this set intended to allow six person games?

If not, why add it to the product line?

Four players -- but six options, perhaps?

Personally: I think someone just wanted to make the OG _Battlestar Galactica_ reference.... .:)

You could certainly run a 6 player scenario but be prepared for a very long game.

I do not recall the original source (possibly this Facebook post?) but it was announced that this was NOT meant to allow six players but a lower cost boxed set to get players into the game. Somewhat fewer components (minis?), but everything needed to play a two player game up to the level of the other 2 player boxed sets.

Slight Aside here:

I find it amusing that the post title says "Orage", rather than "Orange". In French, "orage" is the word for "thunderstorm", which is appropriate for _Car Wars_ (it makes for a good vehicle name -- perhaps something energy-weapon-intensive?).

No, you don't. In no way was my statement intended to mock your spelling, or grammar; my apologies if that fact was not sufficiently apparent. This is merely an Amusing Coincidence.

By way of background: Back'n'th'80s, I played GDW's _2300AD_, a "sequel" to _Twilight: 2000_. One of the starship classes was a French frigate named "Orage"; I didn't know what it meant, so I looked it up; this is how I came to know what "orage" means in French. (Apparently the class was named for various levels of rainfall.)

The Orange/Purple two-player set is not intended to expand the game to 6 players, officially. It remains a 2-4 players recommended game.

It was created as a streamlined two-player starter set for retail shelves. The only new thing in it for those of you with the kickstarter release editions is an updated rulebook (found here) and the two new colors of bases, decks, and dashboards (for those that want to house rule larger games, or just have different color preferences).
