I chose to take part in the playtest of the book on biremes and triremes, which I've been interested in for years and years. I don't recall if a book on thieves was submitted, but it could easily have failed to catch my interest.

I think that's a reference to Christopher's book. It's for the DF line, so I think I can guess where your preference would lie.

Quite. No criticism to those who enjoy dungeon fantasy, but my interests are elsewhere.

They both interest me, but my pick would be for the Thieves.

Why pick? Both should be available soon!

If I have to choose sight unseen, I guess it would be Thieves but that will be highly dependent on the content of both.

If all I knew was the basic topic, I'd say GURPS Larceny. But given that it's probably the DF line, I'd take GURPS Rowboats.

Now if it was carracks instead of n-remes, I'd be all over it.

If I'm being honest, neither interests me.

I'd love a solid book on preindustrial ships, shipping, and how captains and crews really worked. The book you suggest on classical period ships would get my money. If I was a line editor it would be a passion project to get a book like that out. But if I was a line editor I'd recognize that a thieves book would get a far larger audience, especially if it had a useful angle. Example: A book dealing with how historical thieves actually made their livings. Dealing with selling the loot. What actual "thieves guilds" really were. How a thief would actually survive. That would be a useful book.

I want the book on ships. I think that, if it's a good book, they can sell the book on thieves.
