Except for the whole scene where he, y'know, synthesized it. With very poor safety protocols, too.

And besides, Tony couldn't've had Cap's real shield in his garage, as Steve was literally on ice at the time, and had the shield on him.

Not to mention, look at the prop in Tony's garage which looked like it had a lot of pieces missing and the solid metal shield Cap used. There's no way those two are the same item.

This is pretty much what I have in mind for Batroc in my Reboot Project. A mercenary martial artist who won't intentionally kill someone and looks forward to matching skills against the legendary super-soldier and/or guys with powers, occasionally pulling jobs such as breaking into Avengers Mansion to get stuff.

I may even put Batroc with others like him; B-listers who in the past have been written as D-listers, but with hidden potential for competency.

The movie takes a few licenses with the character, it looks, and I doubt he's given much of a role following the opening sequence. It may be one of those "We need a name the fans will recognize for a character that's only going to be in the movie for at most fifteen minutes" deals.

True. So the shield-like thing in Tony's garage is presumably one of the Stark-made replicas that this wiki tells me appeared from time to time.

(And of course a sight gag to link the movies, but that's the meta explanation.)

It could also be one of the prototype shields his dad made for Rogers back during WWII.

That's my bet. Howard stark wanted to show Steve Rogers several different models but Rogers grabbed the Vibranium one and never looked back.

Replacement shields from the comics wouldn't apply to the movie universe.

You might have some points about other feats but not that lift.
The problem is that implies a ST 10 character can pick up 160 lbs and hold it over his heads with arms at full extension for some time with little visible effort. That doesn't quite seem reasonable. I vaguely recall Kromm clarifying the BL*8 lift as being able in practice to somehow get a weight over your shoulders -i.e., a ST 10 character can pick up another man and carry him over the character's shoulders. My ball park estimates for weight lifting feats put a snatch at BL*5 and a clean & jerk at BL*6. Since Cap's holding up the weight a lot longer than Olympic lifters do, I'd put the effort at BL*4 if not less.

I could also see Batroc feeling a bit cheated. I mean in a world without "supers", a "super normal" is... still an amazingly high point character and if "built" reasonably well amongst the best in one or multiple fields. Definitely bring out the hidden (and not so hidden) competency in characters; D-Listers should never be intentional because its a lot like trying to intentionally make an A-lister: fan reaction is fan reaction and you'll just get in trouble for "not writing him correctly". Plus as GURPS has taught me, so many characters apparently spend their lives holding The Idiot Ball because no one realizes how awesome an ability is when used properly.

Fair enough.

Not sure about modelling BW. She doesnt do anything that requires more than just good combat skills and high St and Dex in Iron Man 2. I would have to think about whether she needed wild card skills for Avengers either or just luck and a whole bunch of cinematic rules.

We might end up finding out she has a knock off of the super soldier serum (as Fury might too) as we discover more of the back story. I dont think so though.

That aside yeah if you want to do Cap with the super stats and more reasonable skills levels and your super normals (Hawkeye too) with wildcard skills that seems good at keeping their niches seperate.

Heh... "Idiot Ball" :) I had not heard that trope before. I see Wiki attributes it to Herman's Head which I only have a vague memory of as being unwatchable. Batroc sure came off as comic relief in a lot of his appearances (the ones I recall), but you'd have to respect the abilities of someone who could hang with CA for any amount of time.
