Default [HANS] Pyramid Article on Gun Ergonomics and Minor Traits

We could also have beneficial ones like "Bulk is -1 less severe in close combat only/for Holdout only/for Move and Attack only" or "Configurability gives +2 for Weapon Bond." We already have footnotes on reliability in High-Tech, which are a very similar idea. Then these traits could then be assigned to particular models of guns. That would make a great Pyramid article (and illustrate how "gadget bugs" exist even in the real world).

I can easily fill an article with traits that provide minor bonuses or penalties due to ergonomics etc. What's unfeasible (and would read rather boring) is simply a long list of all guns written up so far and list their problems or advantages, but I can certainly mention many of them in above-said generic article. Actually, I can even see new techniques and stuff. Oh my. Great idea. Thanks for the challenge ;)

Are there any news of this article? Or would it maybe be an e23 project?

Are other forumites as eager for this to be written as I am?

And since I'm at it, is there any hope for a 4e version of GURPS High-Tech: Modern Firepower? I know HANS planned to write one, but I haven't heard about it for a while.

Hans is listed on the spec thread as authoring another Tactical Shooting supplement. So maybe we will see it there.

That is intriguing news. I hope it is.

Although any Tactical Shooting supplement sounds good, even if it is not exactly this.

I personally am curious to see what else he can cover, unless he is going to cover UT stuff and even then I am surprised at a full supplement. Look forward to more details.

The article isn't done, unfortunately, as more pressing matters occupied my time. The upcoming Tactical Shooting project is concerned with entirely different issues.

Cheers

At a guess I'd say it's about shooting tactically. ;)

It's clearly going to be GURPS Tactical Shooting: Skeet Shooting, an exhaustive detailing of Out of Combat bonuses (and how to build characters who benefit from such in combat), the differences between Guns and Guns (Sport), etc. It also will contain GURPS statistics for 15 (!) different skeet-throwing devices, as well as rules for modifying them. Calling it now.

Welp Hans... working a new Tactical Shooting book.... just take my money already.

Now on the topic minor handling improvements... at GURPS level of granularity most of them will just be an ingame justification for the weapons bound perk.

Most "tactical" modifications are just as useful as most "performance enhancers" are for cars.
