Girl : "I am Torzuchi, of the Tibu, and then the Porba. You have filaments growing from your head. And your skin is bleached."

"Ah, I see your confusion. I am not Vutu, I'm a human. We are a little different than your people. Check out my sausage fingers!"

Peter wiggles his fingers at her displaying them.

She looks around some more "What sort of leviathan is this? I have never seen one so large. "How many more Nichols are about? How is the competition for this Jokuti*?"

"It's not a leviathan, we're on a planet in space. Things are very different outside of the ethereal realm."

She has an eye on the approaching Vutu. It seems wary.

"Here come your people now... Good, we can get you reunited!"

Peter continues his mission to try and unite all peoples who will be united and take any who will go with him on the search for those in need, especially the conveyor, as the occupants may have limited air.

With a little assurance, Danny gathers the others and they head inland.

He's wearing clothing that looks somewhere between armor and deerskin cloths, with odd horns, bones, and scales adorning it. He has no hair, but weathered pale yellow-gray skin with six short bone osteoderms on his head.

Is that where you got "Skinny Fingers"? That's wasn't part of his body, that's growths that connect him to his pod, like spider webs. When he stood up they tore loose. Vutu have mostly human fingers, though they are a bit thinner.

"Ah, I see your confusion. I am not Vutu, I'm a human. We are a little different than your people. Check out my sausage fingers!"

Peter wiggles his fingers at her displaying them.

Torzuchi: "A Hu-man? were you once Vutu? your shape is very similar."

"It's not a leviathan, we're on a planet in space. Things are very different outside of the ethereal realm."

Once again, Peter stumbles across the inconvenience of the Vutu language lacking a word for "Planet".

"Here come your people now... Good, we can get you reunited!"

Torzuchi: "They are not my people."
She looks around : "Do you know what is that way? or that one?"
She points further down the coast, and inland.


The other Vutu are catching up "Hurry!" she says.

Peter continues his mission to try and unite all peoples who will be united and take any who will go with him on the search for those in need, especially the conveyor, as the occupants may have limited air.

Peter continues down the beach, looking for more people. Maybe the next beach will have the conveyor.

"Not your people? Different tribe? You can stay with me if you like. Are there rules for 'castaways'? They seem to use that term with a bit more meaning that I'm used to."


Peter will take her with him while he continues his search if she likes.

"No time! Which way is safe? Hurry!"

"I don't know that any direction is safe. I'm headed away from all the people I've met so far... What's the hurry? You all came in the same ship after all. You won't get along out here? The others have been worried about getting their pods away from where the... How do I say this... The water's edge moves as the... big all dead thing in space go as around the bigger mostly dead thing we stand on, so the liquid may take the pod back when it comes up again. So if you need to keep it, we should move it... or hope that the other Vutu do for you."

They hustle away from the other Vutu, as that seems to be her source of anxiety... Peter will try and get the rest of the story on the move.

She takes off running, trying to get over the top of the beach.

Some of the Vutu (Chorniveebi, Peter thinks) yell something he can't hear distinctly.


Once over the hill, Torzuchi says : "We're not from the same vessel. Not originally, anyway. A bunch of Tibu got castaway on a Porba vessel. They don't do things right. They don't celebrate the pod meal, or listen to their Nozunor*. And Chorniveebi is a jerk."

"He was pretty gruff, but I think he thought I might try and take over or something. Javuchi and Kiju seemed nice enough. Were there many of you taken as their leviathan? You are probably going to need help to survive here, are you sure you don't want to be with other Vutu? Maybe we should stay on the beach and look for your friends pods if the ones so far aren't friendly. I'm looking for other ...castaways who are trapped. Not everyone's pods are as good as yours."


Peter understands her wanting to get out of sight, but tries to keep them close to the ridge line along the beach if she insists on staying off of it, so he can peer over and keep looking for the people trapped in the conveyor.

"Javuchi and Kiju are fine. They're Tibu. They won't do anything about it though."


She agrees to race along the beach with him.... But one of the Vutu is already running up to the beach following them (the rest seem to be sticking to the beach)

"They won't do anything about what? The others may not share all the same customs, but they are your species at least."

Peter is not as concerned about the rebellious girl as he is about potentially suffocating Para-chronauts, especially with the confirmation that the Vutu he met first are of her group... He will continue his search at a brisk pace and she is welcome to tag along.

"Species? Why does that matter? I'm sick and tired of them and I'm looking for another tribe. Its not just customs, its dignity."


"They won't do anything to change the Porba. They'll go along with all the things the Porba do and say they're grateful to the Porba for the life-force they work hard for."

As they gain in elevation, they come to a good vantage point: Peter can see the tipped conveyor on the next beach. The Vutu chasing after them has caught up enough to shout. "Peter! Torzuchi! Wait for the rest of us!"


The guy is quite fast, though he seems a little winded. Torzuchi picks up her pace.
