How big a deal is it to leave, go shopping, and come back into the arcology?

Hard. You would need to adventure for a boat or plane. Many strong men await you. Leaving your current region for another place in the arcology? Either easy or mildly difficult. You’d need to make one skill roll (maybe I’d roll it in secret) to try travelling through the arcology.

what does "Many strong men" mean? Immigration officials from greece? Criminals on this side trying to control transportation? Criminals trying to keep people trapped, Criminals who just want our stuff?

To answer your specific questions; 1) the floor is a cheap wood layer over concrete. 2) the interior walls are cheap weak drywall. Walls between units are thicker, plastered brick. You have not checked the walls at the edge, but they might be the same as walls between units. 3) stairs up and down are common. Elevators are a little less common. But people will be watching them. 4) doors for each unit should be 1 or so, but damage to the area may have wrecked them. Check the map to see what is around the units. Examining the walls can identify their construction materials. 5) 20 units per floor. It’s rectangular, boxy. 10 units on each side, facing each other. Choke points are typically at the stairs/elevator. 6) not much, mostly a bed, a dinner table, a smaller table by the couch, kitchen counters, a fridge that looks ready to break down, toilet, shower stall, sink with counter, and a couch. No food. No washing machine, the apartments have a public laundromat. One rug in the living room, pretty soiled by now. 7) no cameras. All of them got wrecked or were never installed in the first place.

Jack has Area Knowledge twice - once for the 'visible' stuff (i.e. corridors, etc.) and once for the behind the scenes stuff (the access corridors, the infrastructure and such). Both at 14.
And Architecture at 13. |

Roll of 11 vs. 13 for Area Knowledge; Does Cascabel know anything useful?
