[Magic] Range Penalty on Shape Earth (and other?)
Regular spells suffer a -1 penalty per space beyond reach to their target
Area spells suffer the same penalty, but at the range to the closest part of the area they are trying to affect. Shape Earth is a Regular spell. Its cost is dependant upon how much cubic space you want to shape. How do range penalties play into that??? Very specificially, what volumne of earth is affected in what proximity to the caster and with what penalties? Thanks ahead of time. |

Re: [Magic] Range Penalty on Shape Earth (and other?)
So far as I can tell, and the way I have always played it, the range penalties are to the closest area effected by the spell, whether it be an area spell, or one of the hexes effected by a regular spell.
For example: If you are casting Shape Earth to create a dirt wall in front of you, with the closest part of the wall being 1 yard away from you, and the edges at 5 yards away, then your range penalty would be -1 to spell skill. Hope that helps |
