Default Why ask for returns on favors?

What if a Lilim never called on her hooks and simply built up a huge list of billions and billions that she could track down as needed?

Wouldn't this snowball as various beings got in the habit of referring others to her for this "Yellow Pages" service?

And who is best placed to follow this path, eh?

So it's the ultimate showdown at Armageddon and Lilith just says no.

And some people wonder why Lilith never lets go of that last Geas she has on each of her Daughters... Now you know, and knowing is half the battle. (Or, in this case, the non-battle.)

Also, being the Infernal "Yellow Pages" strengthens this being's position...

"Can you find Haagenti for me?"

"Sure, I got a Geas hook on him back when he was a 6-Force demonling, and I can track him with that. But you'll owe me for it."

At the same time, if you start accumulating too many hooks that you never cash in, doesn't that make you a target? Granted, Lilith's powerful enough that she's probably not in danger, but a "mere" 12-force Lilim may have problems ...

Demon of the War: "What's that you say? The girl's got hooks on half your servitors? Don't you worry, sir, I know how to make those hooks go away nice and quick-like..." (Click-CLICK!)

What Servitor of War? Lilith will not want any such competition. She'd task such a Lilim to set up a spy network in Hades. If that doesn't burn off a few million geases, then when she reveals such a spy ring to asmodeus, the chase certainly will...

Why, the nice deniable Renegade who can be written off if things go wrong, of course. :)

And somewhere, as the infernal infighting grows, Michael is smiling....

This suits Lilith just fine. If the War is won, she loses.

But don't the Lilim have powers that the genies can only dream of?

They can keep tabs on unlimited targets, and beat their targets up without dissonance.

And the brights don't even have to look the subject in the eye.

The gilded Lilim can also interrogate their targets without visiting them.

They can trigger their hooks by sending a letter and they automatically know when they're asking for too much on a geas.

Therefore one of the sisterhood can sit down with pen and paper and run 20 questions to figure out all sorts of juicy details about their "client" without ever risking discord. They simply never send the letters.

Do you mind giving an example? You may well be right, but it's just not how I've usually understood the resonance to work.

GURPS IN page 37 says: "Lilim instinctively know what they can ask for" and gives time factors for various levels.

So simply take out a post-it and write down a request for the target to travel to a given location. If the time it would take for them to get there exceeds the geas level then the Lilim instinctively knows that the target is at least a certain distance from that place, with no essence spent.
