Default Re: Can Weapon Bond and Magical Weapon Bond stack?

Technically, I cannot see something that forbid the combo.
  • a fine(balanced) weapon : made so well that any user gets +1 to skill.
  • weapon bond : customised so that a specific user get +1 to skill
  • magical weapon bond : supernatural attunement so that you get +1 with a specific enchanted weapon.
3 separate bonus, for 3 separate reasons.

I would probably allow it.

Otoh, the wording in Magical Styles does say "The GM may allow warriorwizards to take a variant that is supernatural". You may interpret the wording "variant" as meaning you can only have one of the other...

Also, since it must be an enchanted weapon, it will usually be more expensive than 1 cp in sig gear.
Except a staff, but a staff cannot be fine(balanced) (unless using the alternate rule in one of the pyramid issue).

And if you are using Magical Styles, you really should enforce the limit on the number of magical perks ! So the mwb perk may only cost 1 cp, but it require a substantial investment in spells, not something any warrior with magery 0 can grab for a cheap +1.

No, they do not stack.

If this isn't enough of an answer for people, here's my take on it: Both Perks represent acquiring the muscle memory of being acclimated to a particular weapon. One is through tried and true time and practice with the weapon, the other is using magic as a short cut to acquiring that muscle memory. Both have the same end product but have differing paths to getting there.

Thank you! My Google Fu failed me there.

Kromm even used the word "variant" in his response to that thread, which seemed to me the most salient word, as far as not stacking.

I think they could both be put on the same weapon, but they would only stack where both the magical attunement and the perfect physical fit of the weapon are both relevant, which may not be the case a majority of the time.

Also, the physical Weapon Bond would not obviously not be transferable in the same manner as provided by the Magical Weapon Bond perk.
