Default Too Much Time On My Hands

Has anyone else thought about this? The Melee hexes are 1.5" and equate to 4 feet in size. The counters are 1", therefore are humans on the counters just about 3 feet tall?

Yes, yes I have. It's a very specific, sad OCD that I have.

i think that is the space a human sized creature occupy as looked from above, so a 3x3 feet is not bad generalization.

Note that most of the prone bodies we get in the MH tile sets occupy 2 hexes, as you'd expect.

Yeah, TFT counters are not meant to be standees. Their size is about the top-down space they occupy. The image shows them standing but isn't to scale. Standees such as Cardboard Heroes are closer to scale.

A human being viewed from above, who is trying to take as little space as possible, requires a 2 square foot rectangle. Obviously, some humans will require more, but this is just the average for planning purposes.

For game purposes, your average human will NOT be trying to take as little space as possible unless they are hiding/sneaking/etc. So a 3 -4 foot hex space is good for purposes of solo/small-scale combat. Once you get into mass combats and want to have shield walls or tight formations you get back to a much smaller footprint.

From the Melee rules: "A GIANT (say, 9-12 feet tall) occupies 3 hexes", but a 6 foot human is still only one hex.

We had some discussion about height of the figure and number of hexes back in this thread about Long Lankins. A lankin is as tall as a small giant, but is only one hex.

A human might be about 5-6 feet tall, but they aren't typically so wide...
