A Chinese, or because of the similarities between Samurai and knights, Japanese empire, on a new continent, would be cool too. Although I've long wanted the other Yrth continent to be Africa based, mainly because of the lack of quality role-playing supplements on Africa.

Re: Ideas for Yrth
In the printed material we are told of outliers in the societies of Yttarria. Isolated communities that might speak German, or worship Vishnu, or the people might be of African origin. Each of these has possibilities.
If a small town of devout Hindus, worshiping Vishnu, existed on Yttarria anywhere outside of Cardiel or Sahud, there would be a constant fear of the inquisition. The struggle of the town to either stay below the radar or negotiate a reasonable level of security for themselves would be constant and dramatic.

Re: Ideas for Yrth
Keeping in mind, my knowledge is from a trilogy of novels where the Vikings created a book-based religion (resulting in a conflict between the various Christian kingdoms, the various pagan Norse kingdoms, and the independent Norse-of-the-book missionaries; "The Hammer and the Cross").
So I don't know if it's just for the book, or if it really existed. But there was apparently a Jewish kingdom in the mountains between Spain/France/Italy (northeast corner of Spain).

I know more about East African (such as it is, based on the Belasarius novels, re: time-traveling sentient crystals; the kingdom of Aksum). And I don't know much of anything about the south African (prior to the introduction of crops and livestock that could survive down there).

I don't know which region it's based on, however. |
