Re: GURPS Conan returns
My joy is incalculable! This is one of those things I assumed was forever doomed to the abyss by licensing.

Re: GURPS Conan returns
The fact that so many people are happy about GURPS Conan being released makes me feel happy as well. I already own this product but I feel that it shows there is a real interest in a high powered fantasy world. I think that DF does its job for killing monsters and taking their stuff type of game world but there are many gamers who use DF as a tool-kit to create players, monsters and adventures that are part of a larger fantasy gameworld. The amount of excited posts gives me hope that GURPS may try to develope some high powered fantasy setting that would be compatable with the DF series.

Re: GURPS Conan returns
Cool. I have the core Conan book, but nothing else. Are the adventures any good?
I have to admit that the Mongoose Conan version has some very interesting books with a pretty high standard (IIRC almost everything was done by the same author). The two "Road of Kings" books present a good gazetteer version of the Hyborian realms, with almost no useless D20 crunch in the way. |

Re: GURPS Conan returns
I guessed that, but I can't look, being on 3G at the moment.
But I no longer feel so bad that I loaned out my copy years ago and never saw it again. I should have learnt after The Prisoner. |

Now that I think of it, there probably isn't a huge amount to update*, crunchwise: maybe an adaptation of the ritual magic rules, updated mass combat, and new character sheets. All of the atlas and timeline stuff should translate as is. It's not like there's a lot of racial or character templates or world-specific tech floating around. Still, for the license to go from "it'll never happen" to "it's happening, albeit in a limited way" is terribly exciting. *In the core book. The solo adventures might need a more extensive re-write.

Re: GURPS Conan returns
As someone who has only recently begun delving into Conan, this is something I wholly approve of.

Re: GURPS Conan returns
Is this a limited-time offer (in that the Conan material will only be available for the five weeks) or a permanent addition to the e23 catalog (or at least until the people who own Conan find yet another RPG publisher to work with)?
