Default Different colored card backs

So, I've got what I believe is an early version of the core game (paper inside says rules updated 11/7/03. Anyway, I picked up Munchkin 2 and 3 today, and the backs of the cards are different. The Treasure cards are pretty close, but the Door cards are night and day. The OG set I have is door on a dark brown back and the new decks are door on a Tan back.

Still playable? when did they change? Do I need a new core set to match?

The biggest change was in like 2010. Before then, the cards were not as colorful either.

It's certainly still playable. The only real information you'd have is whether or not your opponent has an expansion card or core set, and that's not enough to influence the game in anyway. If it bothers you, sleeves are likely cheaper than a whole new set., but please do what makes you happy.
