Repairman Jack recognises the name as a figure on the margins of the arcology’s power struggles around the poorer areas. He usually hires desperate people for salvaging missions, that typically end up with people dying when fights break out. He’s publicly unaligned to the commune, the corp and the Black Hands. Don’t trust him, he apparently likes to rob the bodies of the dead or something.

There's so cell coverage in here, right?
And these guys had no radios? What state is the wiring of the arcology in? has it all been ripped out for scrap yet? Voice: "They won't know what happened to these guys unless we send them back. which I suppose they will. We're not attached to this area specifically, I think. Certainly not this room." "I could possibly leave a nice explosion for whoever comes back for us."

No radios. The systems in the arcology vary by region to region. Some are down. There are regions where electricity and so on work just fine. For now.

Electricity is on in the slums, but you can’t rely on it for much longer. It could go down any day now.

"It looks like we were first on the list, or the first occupied space anyway. We probably have a while before anyone else expects to hear from them."

Jack nods. “I agree. I think we just happened to be home… and somebody (glances over) just started shooting. Considering their ‘boss’ tends to hire low level rent-a-thugs, I really doubt he is going to be too concerned when they don’t come back.”
“If we want to get out of this area, I can take us some back ways. You might get a bit dirty, but most anybody you meet back there won’t bother with you as long as you don’t bother them.” “What are you looking for, anyway? Just another crash pad? Someplace more permanent? After somebody? I’m more worried about the next job.” “Speaking of which, who kept the cash? And does anybody want the pistols, or should we hock them?” |

"If we have someplace to keep them, more guns can't go amiss. You never know when you'll want to arm a comrade who isn't packing."
