Dropping items in the Entrance?

Can you drop items while in the Entrance? You can't search the Entrance, so nobody would be able to pick it up... so basically you would have to just discard anything dropped there I suppose.

If you can't drop the anything in the Entrance... what happens to your "Sword of Slaying Anything but Squid" when you fight a 'Tentacle Monster' as the Boss Monster (since this battle is located in the Entrance)?

This just happened in the last game I played... we were puzzled!

So you just discard them? Also... does it say that in the rulebook... cause I scanned over that thing for the millionth time looking for something talking about dropping items in there!

I believe the reason you aren't finding such a rule is that no such rule exists. There's no rule against dropping stuff in an unsearchable room; it just means you can't pick it up again. However, that doesn't mean that the stuff is gone forever (unless the room says it is), and it's possible* that cards in future sets might allow one to shove dropped items into a new room that can be searched.

* Not being cute here: I don't think we have written such a card yet, but it's not an unreasonable idea and it could show up down the road.

Well since such a card doesn't exist yet... you could use the Entrance to your advantage... such as dropping items you don't want anyone else to have!

There is a room that lets you pay to pick up a dropped item from anywhere in the dungeon, don't remember which one off the top of my head.

It's the Den of Thieves... you just have to buy the item for it's face value... that's pretty cool... so yeah... items can be dropped in the Entrance... awesome opossum!

Oh wait... Picking up Dropped Items and Searching are two separate things... it cost a move to do either... but if you use a move to search... you automatically get to pick up any of the dropped items that are also in that room! So basically searching is like a two for one special... as long as you can search that room and you don't roll a one or seven (because then you'd have to fight the monster before picking up/searching anything).

Picking up a dropped Item is not only tied to Searching a room. The Entrance's no search policy has no effect on picking up dropped Items because, though you can Search a room and pick up any dropped Items, you can also pick up dropped Items as a separate and unrelated action.
