Re: mechanical representation of character (not player) being unaware of a trait
That sounds a little different, namely it could be a way of describing how spirit powers work in the setting. Also, if it is "Only when my allies possess me" that sounds like a fine limitation to take. Note that I'm also talking about active use powers, DR that only works while possessed is still useful, if much less so.

I wonder if that's like having "Immunity to Possession (Selective Effect +20%)" where you can choose to have your immunity only apply to the mental takeover but not gaining benefits like "+2 to DR, only to body I'm possessing" and similar. |

I kind of like the idea of an advantage that makes it impossible for others to dictate your actions but you still get any benefits that would come from them trying, such as someone with Possession bringing other goodies with. You could even take it a step further and build a 'reverse possession' to force ghosts to take over your body but not be able to actually control you.

Yeah, that's simple enough and a really silly power.

Re: mechanical representation of character (not player) being unaware of a trait
Even if you lacked the selective immunity to possession there are ways you can make that work for you.
"You must possess me to use your skills to have my body win this 3-minute fighting round and then relinguish the Possession" for example could be pretty useful if you command a martial artist ghost to bring all it's massive skill investment over to your body to compensate for your lack of DX. The effect of your mind control is still going to linger even after you stop taking concentrate maneuvers (B68: MoS minutes) all that happens if you go unconscious from it possessing you is it gets to make another QC to try and break free of you. Your IQ apparently still applies even when you are unconscious (so long as you don't take the "While Conscious" limitation on any extra IQ: that would shut it down) so it would need to overcome that. This could be trickier if possessing others to cheat to win tournaments is against the spirit's principals as that might generate a separate additional QC. Much like I think it would be 1 quick contest per loved one if you said "progressively kill your entire family" not just one single QC for the batch command. |
