A fun Thread! Bullet Resistant Low Tech Armour
just a fun post many of you pros already knows this but i thought it would be fun to post! if you take 2 heavy plates which you can do and layer them only frontally and take the best equipment you can if your Rich you can get 22 Front DR for 15 IBS.
24 if you want it heavier this is all from what i understand without it becoming jousting armour per say just the normal Layering armour. which by RAW you can just buy it of with 1 point perk. of course this is insanely expensive but funny thing you can do. and this is without Magic this is the armour you want when fighting that Giant hahaha. Also a cheap version of this would be bolting on 2 cheap front plates for 800 each+ 100 bolts. something you can do with a starting character from TL4 a lot heavier though! |

The thickest extant breastplates are Hussar cuirasses, which are over 8mm thick across the chest. I've previously posted eye-witness accounts of these resisting cannon shot.

Re: A fun Thread! Bullet Resistant Low Tech Armour
interesting! i mean if you wanted the jousting penalty you could do this according to your rules would be 14 DR with heavy plate plus 2 from the enhancements and double layer them creating 32 DR.

Random missile fire will hit the Brestplate a significant amount of the time Otherwise, "people" ((including Giants) will see you breastplate and aim somewhere else. I don't think there is really good armor for fighting Giants. Not really big Giants anyway.

Re: A fun Thread! Bullet Resistant Low Tech Armour
GURPS generally overestimates the coverage of armor, but DR 22 is roughly level III, and a frontal level III steel plate with modern steel is around 8 pounds, so 15 lb for the same capability with TL 3 steel isn't particularly unreasonable.

And Fred i don't think giants would aim anywhere else. the 22DR plate is just normal armour layering rules which you can buy of with 1 point Perk in the rules. you could make it DR 24 without the jousting penalty |

A decent-sized giant will hit you with the furry end of a tree, and while they might 'aim' at your breastplate, they'll hit you all over (Large Area Injury, B400).

against large-area injury – but if your DR varies by location, your “effective DR” is the average of your torso DR and the DR of the least protected hit location exposed to the attack (which could still be your torso), rounding up. If your DR varies against different attacks, “least protected” refers to the location with the lowest DR against that particular type of attack. |

If I was a giant I'd arm myself with either a giant size golf club or cement tamper.
