GURPS [Space] question.
Hi ya. I was playing around with the alien generator tables, and I got this result:
Environment: Reef (water) Type: Chasing Carnivore. Movement: Immobile. So it looked 'odd' to me obvious, then I got to thinking. Could it have very large, very very long tentacle like appendages that lie along the sea floor, and can make quick, running grabs at passing prey? Or would that make it more like a Trapping Carnivore. Any help sorting this out is appreciated. =)

Makes it more like a pouncing carnivore, really. Me, I'd simply reroll until I got something that made sense. Or say it has a sessile life-cycle stage.

Re: GURPS [Space] question.
How it can be "Immobile" and "Chasing" seems impossible at first glance, but possibly not. I would go ahead and finish generating the rest of the details. Maybe that process will generate some plausible ideas.

Re: GURPS [Space] question.
A sessile creature that grows independent mobile "mouths" that chase down prey and return it to the core?

Wow! That's some interesting writing. =) I think I may just adapt this idea to my immobile carnivore.

Nothing would prevent this from being the normal approach to life on the planet in question. Sandkings on the land and you are making their aquatic cousins. ;) Last edited by nerdvana; 07-14-2009 at 12:33 PM. Reason: editing in comments on Rowan's post |
