I was unaware they had Wards in DF...

I will take your word on it.

Impulse buys doesn't ignore MoS, it grants an effective one on a purchased success or critical success and can be used independently to pad margin in some instances I believe.

Right, I was more saying that with destiny points, there's no option for a middle of the road improvement. It's buying a critical success (for two points) with [skill]-3 MoS or nothing. Eric's offer of "pass for one destiny point" isn't really RAW but I think it's fair.

I'm glad you think so... But if wards work differently in DF than they do for RPM... it's hard to say what's fair when you don't know what's going on. I'm still not sure what "A will roll of 20" means.

Just realized that either model uses a quick contest rather than a strait roll against 20 (which should give more variance and thus a better chance for you to succeed) and... the ward crit failed. V is through.

consequences to the ward are unknown to the players as of yet.

Correct.

They party steps through the portal, and ends up in a round natural cavern roughly 30 yards across. In the center is a small spring that feeds a brook running out of the cavern. The only artificial structure is a stone doorway two yards away from the wall mounting the red portal. The room is full of vines growing Gourds, Melons, and Cucumbers. The whole place is lit with a glow that seems to just come from the air, and the plants seem to quiver with energy.

A small natural tunnel follows the brook out of the room at a right angle left of the portal, a passage opposite the portal leads into a small chamber, and a larger dry natural tunnel leaves forward and to the right of the tunnel.

Happily eating the food is an enormous armadillo, maybe 1000 lbs. It looks up at you and bares its teeth.

I check if I still have my weapons on me as I pass through. Then I check to see if the doorway's unlocked.

I try my best to appear non-threatening.

(Hunter! includes Animal Handling)

Vassarious tries to not upset the beast while examining the area... They would like to try a cucumber!

No one has their weapons: Alron has no staff, Haley no hammer or axes, and Halcyone no guns.

Its a doorway, not a door: an empty stone archway. It leads to a small alcove that appears to be just an empty stone chamber about 2 yards by 2 yards.

Vassarious rolls to keep the animal from getting aggressive... Hunter! is 14, but a -5 is applied for this creature being a man-eater... a roll of 10 fails by 1.

The armadillo charges, moving to 4 yards away from the group.

Well, I suppose this will have to wait for this armadillo.

I climb up, to get above the armadillo.

Climbing

3d6 <= 16
4 + 1 + 4 = 9 ... success
Success by 9 if it matters
