Default GURPS Martial Arts review up at RPGnet

My review of GURPS Martial Arts just went up. If anyone reading this is still on the fence about picking it up, or needs more information about what's inside it and what changed in the new edition, feel free to find out here:

Thanks for that, Rev. I just read it; your review makes me feel like Sean and I wrote a very good book indeed. Thanks for the compliment, and I'm glad to finally see a review!

I would definitely buy the book based on that review, were I not already going to buy the book anyway! Great read!

@Toadkiller_Dog
You deserve this kind of review. Martial Arts is an excellent book.

yeah man. I haven't said it yet anywhere but I've been meaning to and this seems as good a place as any.. Martial Arts is possibly the most delightful rpg supplement i've ever browsed/read. Even if I don't want to use all the material, it's all there if I need it and really well organized, exciting and easy to understand. Actually it's probably my favourite RPG rules/info supplement (if we're including settings/core rules it gets a lot harder to narrow down)

I got the same feeling about Martial Arts as I did about the AD&D book Player's Option: Combat and Tactics when it came out. While it might be heresy to compare a GURPS book to an AD&D book, here I really mean it as a compliment. Back in the day with the AD&D book, we thought Combat and Tactics was the best thing since sliced bread. Well, GURPS is superior to AD&D in many ways, so when Martial Arts appeared it is like everything having finally been done right. Martial Arts may be one of the best supplements to a RPG ever produced.

Yes. And enlarging your comparison between Martial Arts and Combat and Tactics, in a sense GURPS -as a whole- is "that D&D book we were waiting for" for providing the right approaches/fixing our dissatisfaction and never came (and never will do, not in D&D 4 nor later).

IMHO Martial Arts rounds even more the Basic Set, and finally takes the combat system to that "utopian" level we were waiting for.

As you say, a milestone in the RPG history.

BTW: good review! Thanks Rev. Pee Kitty.
