Re: Bow Prices
Stylized is also an option. Probably not in Western Europe where bows were a plebian weapon, but an Asian warrior could have a Stylized bow.

You can't adjust the string as that's not the part that flexes.

I'm rather noobish in the production process of bows...but if the only thing that changes for a stronger pull is the wood and the string, that means you just change what you chose to combine... What I mean is, I picture an artisan looking at his table with 2 different strings and 2 different woods/bows and he simply picks the combination for stronger or lighter pull and assemble them with mostly the same work. Is the production of the strings that variable in terms of difficulty of work? I don't think so. |

Re: Bow Price
Except, as pointed out earlier, the words on p. 270 (right column, towards end) are "You cannot use a stronger bow"; should I read your post as saying "use the penalty as if it's a melee weapon, calculating damage for your own ST, with extra effort allowing you to temporarily reduce or eliminate the penalty"?

Enlightenment:
Craftsman do charge based on time* and materials*. Modern mass produced goods should not be compared to handmade goods for pricing. *Longer self bows take more work to craft as do stronger composite bows, longer strings need to be thicker and longer, more wood goes into a longer bow, different material in a composite for different strengths, etc. Quote:

But yes, they amount to, if I recall correctly, -1 per point lacking in strength or some other extra effort.

Re: Bow Prices
I bet you could make a bow like that. I doubt you can make a GOOD bow like that.

Re: Bow Prices
Would it be more like. Take bowstave apply spokeshave until the bows strength is equal to the user's?
