Demo of how to GM TFT on roll20
I run through an example of a quick way to setup a game.
There are a lot of other features (such as say ranged combat) that I didn't use, but this should be enough to get started with roll20. https://youtu.be/hCjzsuAAGU4

I do things a little different. I don't freehand draw a map, though it's useful to do that for a quick unplanned battle. I prepare maps using gimp (like photoshot) and upload them and fit them to the hexes (which can be fiddly). Also, I think at one point you were blanking on how to make subtle adjustments to the position of a token. The key you were looking for was ALT, not SHIFT, but you probably remembered that later. Anyway, although I only skimmed the video, it seems like a very nice introduction. In these COVID times, roll20 is really useful. |

Re: Demo of how to GM TFT on roll20
Thanks for the demo, Henry. I hope more people take advantage of VTT's during the pandemic to keep interest in TFT going.
I run a couple different systems in roll20, and also have a test game for TFT to fiddle around with (no actual games run yet.) Couple things I'd like to see for VTT support: More robust roll20 character sheet. Kudos to the people who put the existing one together. I think it could use a few more tweaks, though. I'd like to see support for Critical Hits and Misses. Right now the results are highlighted red or green when any individual die rolls min or max, but TFT doesn't care about that. What I'd like to see is the green highlighting for Critical Success and red for Critical Misses. And then multiply damage automatically for those big hits. I'd also like the white space on the right side be used for either Talent list (moved from the bottom) or an Equipment list. Official Tokens The regular fantasy tokens for roll20 are fine, but I'd also like to see a token set from SJG using the images included in the Melee/Wizard sets. To me, Ms. Danforth's art is part of the flavor of TFT when I play. I have all the PDFs from the Kickstarter and could make my own for personal games, but wouldn't mind paying for an official set as a roll20 (or any other VTT) Resource. This would also make things like multi-hex creatures easier to manage on the board if they're already designed for it. Official Compendium Again, something SJG would need to sign off on, but having quick access to equipment, spells and talent descriptions that I could just drag onto my character sheet would be awesome (though obviously would also require much more work on the character sheet, going back to the first point.) Also, another revenue generating item, though more roll20 specific. Last edited by Oneiros; 10-17-2020 at 02:10 PM. |

Official tokens would be awesome.

Has anyone figured a way to do megahexes on roll20?

Re: Demo of how to GM TFT on roll20
Actually, I just realized that I've moved to a different graphic for megahexes. I currently have a very large file for that, but the graphics are a bit cleaner.
It's a very big sheet of hexes, so that you can cut it down to the size you need. I'll post the link to that file in the other thread as well, but here are the options: |

Re: Demo of how to GM TFT on roll20
I use images of colored single megahexes and single hexes. I upload a copy of each image and locate in a terrain folder. When preparing maps, I start with a megahex image, drag it to the grid, and then resize so that it fits when "snap"'ed to the grid. From then on, copy and paste, paste, paste. The megahexes snap in place, and it's very quick and very satisfying.
Here is a link to frequently-used hex and megahex images: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/wxtbxcxc2...-zJIdP5pa?dl=0 Here's examples of how it looks in practice: https://www.dropbox.com/s/i37dbp9j72...0end2.png?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/ty7q4c4dwi...44.18.png?dl=0 |
