Stealing a level to avoid an opponent winning
Ok so here's the situation.
You and your opponent have reached level 9. It is his/her turn, and they are about to win the game by beating a monster. So the question is, can one play a card which allows you to steal a level. This would technically reduce them to level 8 and thus prevent winning, but you are supposed to be able to go up a level, which you cannot because you cannot win the game through this method. Is it therefore possible for the card to steal this level only for it not to be realized in a gain in ones own level? i.e. you stay at level 9 (gaining no benefit to your level), but you're opponent will not win as he is reduced to level 8 (before beating the monster and returning to level 9). From an abstract point of view the question is whether one can decline the benefit factors of a particular card in order to play it? I look forward to hearing what people think! |

You can not play a card or use an ability that has a primary effect of giving you a Level if you can't get the Level.

Re: Stealing a level to avoid an opponent winning
Thanks for clarifying that rule.
Clearly I should have not won that last game! Whoops. |
