"Polaris"
Edgar Simmons Ed always knows exactly where he is and what direction he is facing. That is a superpower, though not much of one, so he takes a lot of ribbing from the rest of the student body. He has been working with a faculty advisor, hoping that this is merely the first manifestation of some more significant ability, but so far all attempts to discover or trigger other powers have failed. But at least he's never lost. Last edited by Johan Larson; 02-22-2016 at 09:21 AM. |

Quellion M Quent III
Quellion has no super powers, unless you count more family money than an Arab prince. Quellion's grandfather arranged for his heir to end up at the school, and is quite a hefty donor. Quellion is under a lot of pressure to do well and to make 'useful' friends. He's currently got a thing for Sarah McAlder (Electroplasm). She still warming up to the idea... he is a charming rich young man who isn't terrible looking, but there are all sorts of strings attached. If not by him, then by his grandfather. And being super rich is kind of boring compared to some of the other supers at the school. Adam Stern (Ion Storm) is a good friend, and they seem to genuinely enjoy one another's company. The Grendels are very stand offish from Quellion. They don't see why he's here, and generally ignore him. To themselves, they think he should go back to the ritzy prep school where he belongs. They've been instructed to be polite and not make him an enemy though.

"Roosevelt"
Murali Gotam Bhattacharya was born to the Bhramin caste. Murali was 14 when he realized the pain his talents were causing his elder brother. He thought long and hard about a course of action to hurt the fewest people. His final solution was to strengthen his connection with his brother, then ti irradiate himself through x-ray machines (his father was a doctor) until he got terminal cancer. His brother was by his bedside to the bitter end, leaving his first son supremacy reestablished with his parents. Murali had faked his death... He needed those "final moments" to go just so... He still had terminal cancer, though. He left his country on a fishing boat and adventured, finally ending up in United States when he was detained officially for falsified travel documents; unofficially it was the New mutant detection technology that picked him up. After two months in Guantanamo, Murali was released to Atonement at Rutherford. Namesake: Murali has quickly become class president. Powers: 1) super popularity. 2) super selflessness. 3) inner peace. 4) humility Weakness: 1) terminal cancer 2) extreme selflessness 3) no family

Re: Alphabet Brainstorm 3, High school
Switch
Dominic Grace's mother did something she shouldn't have done while she was pregnant, time travel. Gabrielle Grace better known as just Gabriel was one of the three successful Nephilim series super soldiers. As well as all round physical improvements the designers managed to add a psionic ability that manifested differently in each individual. It was this randomness combined with the large number of rogues that ended the project. Gabriel's ability manifested as telekinetic flight. Switch's father is believed to be the dimensional manipulating hero with an endless supply of weapons, Arsenal. Who was thought to be hit by the chronolord's retconnon and partially ceased to have ever existed. It is suspected that this event combined with Gabriel's unintentional time traveling caused Switch's powers. Switch can become another version of himself from a different time line for a preset length of time. So far he hasn't tried for more than a couple of hours. This time lines version of Switch has no other powers besides particularly good instincts. Powers - Good instincts - Can switch to a random alternate version of himself with a random blend of the following abilities. -- High Strength -- Super Strength -- Enhanced Reflexes -- Toughness -- one or more Enhanced senses -- one or more Enhanced mental abilities -- Random unusual background (Trained from a young age to ... etc) -- Random unusual Equipment (Xaser rifle, post apocalyptic cyber ware etc) -- 10% of the time he gets one psi ability -- 1% of the time he gets a super ability of a significant level. Weaknesses - Random Weaknesses too - All versions are the same age (15) Motivation - Raised with a sound moral compass Switch wonders who watches the powerful. - The confusion over his father gives him a level of empathy with those who are injured or hurt in other ways by supers both good and bad. - Growing up with the celestials he has seen some of the top supers at their best and worst While he can usually only change to a random self his skill with his ability is growing. He can semi reliably change to a warrior monk version of himself with phenomenal reflexes and a strict code of honour Due to the source of his abilities his power is almost undetectable, the most information anyone is able to get is that he has a low level latent ability.

Thunderstrike
Kyle Clarkson is a third generation super, his parents are Thunderborn and Refracture and his grandfather was the "original" Zeus. Brought up in a wealthy home with amazing powers Kyle never wanted for anything. No expense was spared in preparing him for the life of a Super hero. Good looking and talented Kyle is Confident, skilled and very very arrogant. He walked into school on his first day assuming that he was going to be the most popular kid in school, and he was. Powers - Flight, propelled by a thunderclap, so it can be hard on the immediate surroundings. - Can hurl thunderbolts - Forcefield Weaknesses - Only his personality Motivations - Allow everyone else to cater to his every whim.

Uranium
Etienne Duplessis Etienne is an older man, originally from Trois Riveres, Quebec; he still has a bit of a French accent, which becomes more pronounced if he gets upset or tired. Etienne has the power to make things heavier. He can affect as much as half a football field, and can make everything within this area up to ten times heavier for a few seconds, or three times heavier for several minutes. 11 Gs will kill some people, and disable even more from awkward falls. 4 Gs makes it difficult to move. When he was younger, he was the center of attention of a large well-funded research group studying his power. That money eventually dried up, but it did leave him with enough of a taste for science to pursue a degree in physics, which is what he now teaches at the high school. He also makes some money on the side doing demolition in places where explosives or heavy machinery are difficult to use. Last edited by Johan Larson; 02-24-2016 at 08:27 PM. |

"Uptight"
Johnson Uchtenduurf was a hard sci fi writer in 1950s whose books focused on describing the political and cultural ramifications of first contact with aliens. Aliens made contact with him first through his typewriter and then through the pair of glasses they transported to him over 250 billion light years made especially for their champion for earth. Johnson's single handedly (if quietly) stopped seven human race ending catastrophes since. He made contact directly with Atonement... It was easy to detect so many potential world changers in one place. They have an understanding.. Johnson will teach math and science for a full salary until he finishes his memoirs.. Powers: 1) glasses let him see. 2) and detect world ending trouble 3) cosmic power to stop them 4) constant contact with "Mulva," remote alien advisor. Motivations: 1) find new champion without anyone knowing 2) get people to think 3) not give away the glasses or secrets to the wrong people Weaknesses 1) in his late 80s 2) if he uses his power for non world threat stopping reasons, his power will disappear 3) demanding and uptight

Vile
Vivian Styles loathes the nickname Vile but Kyle Clarkson made it stick. The daughter of the infamous villain Fade. Born with the ability to manipulate and solidify shadow this brilliant young woman suffered from her father's reputation. While Atonement moving her to Rutherford was undoubtedly a good thing for her the environment is still not ideal with the children of many of her father's foes attending as well. Fade lingers in the deepest level of the most secure facility in the country and Vivian is a permanent resident of the boarding school. Due to influence from above Vivian is kept under tight scrutiny. This has not stopped her waging a war of truly inventive mischief against Thunderborn. Powers - Shape shadow - Solidify shadows - Can clothe herself in solid shadow. Weaknesses - has to live with her father's reputation Personality - intelligent - rarely challenged Sometime hangs out with Kim and Edgar

Re: Alphabet Brainstorm 3, High school
Warspawn
The first supersoldier projects where based on the theory of adding something to a person to make them a better soldier the Grendels are one of the best examples of this. Later projects involved changing parts of a person to make them a better soldier the Nephilim exemplify this. The Warspawn project was different it started with a baseline human, admittedly one with a few minor physical tweaks and then very carefully took things away. The first prototype went rogue and the cause was determined to be caused by poor socialization. A second prototype was made, named Walter Saxon and sent to Rutherford. Walter seems to be normal enough if slightly slow kid up until he is in a fight. That is where what he doesn't have becomes apparent. No fear, no doubt, no hesitation, no half measures and no slip ups. So far he has only been in one fight at school, standing up for Daedalus when Thunderstrike was picking on him. Walter went to the principals office afterwards while Thunderstrike went to see the nurse to get the pencil taken out of his hand. Powers - enormous talent at fighting. Weaknesses - needs to learn limits. - Not the best academically Personality - amiable but a bit of an outsider.

Re: Alphabet Brainstorm 3, High school
X-Wise (Pronounced 'crosswise')
Mamta Singh is noted for her ability to multitask. She claims that her mind runs too fast for any single activity. She's done things like write notes on her hand while playing basket ball, written three papers at a time (one in each hand, one foot, and the other limb was turning the pages of her books for reference. Her eyes move independently and she doesn't need both of them to focus -- so often she'll let one or both wander off to were-ever. Mamta's father is a prosperous and noted surgeon, who realized that his daughter was gifted long before she was accepted to Rutherford. Mamta has trained for combat, and is scary primarily because of the number of things she can do at once. She's truly in her element when going many against one -- she can easily track half a dozen opponents. She has what appears to be super reflexes and fine control over her body, but lacks the usual accompanying super strength -- her mind just processes where everything is and compensates. Mamta is perpetually bored. She has a fast mind and a willingness to work hard, but while she can think fast, she doesn't learn that much faster than everyone else and isn't a world shattering genius. At least not yet. In the mean time, she's frequently dreaming up ways to make life more interesting -- and constantly watching everyone else. Mamta finds Terrance O'Connell (One) quite amusing, and unlike most is usually aware of where he is. The two are good friends. Powers: Super Multitasking Eyes aren't matched Super precision with body Quite intelligent (but not super so) Personality: Constantly bored Folks attempt to push her hard
