In Shamat how do I shift everything on the map a few hexes to the right? (Or alternately add hexes to the left instead of the right.)

Getting some serious use of Shamat in my current game :)

Thanks again !

A couple new "would it be possible ?" :

-If you have a backdrop, the "save image" save the map without the backdrop.
Which does make sense if some cases, but not always.
A workaround is to right click on the map and use "Save as...". Which work fine but you cannot set the definition.
Would it be possible to add the option to save with or without the backdrop ?

-Would it be possible to add small numbers to the top or bottom of each hex (inside) ? (assuming the hex is big enough !)
I think the standard for many games is a 4 digit number ccrr (c=column r=row) ?
That one was requested on another forum where I suggested Shamat as a great tools to add hex and symbols to a map !

I've thought about adding a shift function that moves the map content around. It's a little tricky because each hex is an object rather than an array pointer, but I will take a look at it again. It's certainly something I've wanted more than once while working on a map.

That's a good request, I'll take a look at it. In theory it should be possible if I can merge the two canvases before export.

Hmm, that will take some experimentation. I'll need to figure out what the minimum zoom is for that. I believe some SPI games used that coordinate system as well. If it's something folks would find useful then I'm happy to investigate.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

Made some progress on both the map shifting functionality and on saving the map image with the backdrop included. A bit more testing and it should be ready for release before the weekend.

Shamat 1.9 is out now. This has the map shifting feature, and also saves the backdrop as part of the image if one is enabled.

As usual, use a copy of your maps when trying it out for the first time, in case anything gets messed up (particularly with the map shifting). Please report any errors back to me here, and otherwise hope you find this update useful!

Time for another release, this time pushing Shamat up to 2.0.

https://shadekeep.com/shamat/shamat.html

I received a few requests for a way to create walls that allow hexes on both sides to be clearly "open" to player movement. So I've added a slew of new "thin" components. This version also sees a bit of an interface change, with the file-handling buttons moved to the menu bar at the top, and another new component for marking events, traps, or whatever else you like.

Hope you enjoy the updates, and let me know if you experience any issues with it!

I'm having trouble adding my jpeg to the background. It gives me a "Hulandre.jpg does not have .skmr extension" when I try to load the map.

I did look at the Help Backdrop, but it wasn't descriptive enough.

I could not find a way to contact you from your website.

Are you trying to load it as a "map" or as a "backdrop"?

Try this:

1) Click the "Compose" tab in the upper right section
2) Under "Backdrop" click the "Add Back" button
3) Select the your .jpg image in the dialog box that comes up.

I think the .skmr files are maps made in Shamat and stored in it's native format. .skmr files are loaded with the "Load Map" button at the top center of the map editing window.

Note: the above is all a well-intentioned guess on my part, but it worked when I tried it.

Thank you! I've been using Shamat to make maps for Quick Quests and this will be a big help. I've been submitting maps that use colors to designate room boundries and it doesn't always work.

One more marker please. As you can see from the cover image of
https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/det...ft-sunday-game
my rivers look jagged.

Can we get two alternatives to "channel", one of which bends in a curve to the right and the other to the left?
