New Marvel RPG coming out

Matt Forbeck wrote and co-designed the game.

D616 System

Marvel calls it “an accessible and easy-to-learn system for newcomers to tabletop RPGs.” And “a natural evolution for those familiar with the most popular tabletop role-playing games on the market.”

Players will use Might, Agility, Resilience, Vigilance, Ego, and Logic to power them through the game.

I wonder how much internal logic it will have,or how fast and loose it will play.

Six stats which could easily be called Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Perception, Charisma or Willpower, and Intelligence. If going with six stats, it's not a bad mix. Made me think d20 at first.

However, it may be a #d6-based system, with # being a flexible number of d6s. The use of "Ego", however, makes me think it takes more than a few pages from Champions/HERO.

So long as they don't use proprietary dice like FFG, I think it might work. I'll give it a shot, at least.

Looking at Matt Forbeck's previous RPG credits, I've played both Deadlands and Brave New World, and they're decently evocative settings that I'd rather play with a different rule set, so my expectation for rules isn't that high, but on the other hand that was more than twenty years ago.

It's FASERIP, without the Fighting stat. And this being Marvel, there's gonna be Fighting.

Forbeck's got some credentials, and a UP connection. I'll be interested to see what he comes up with.

My guess is fighting is folded into Agility.
