Default Distress flares

Hi,
I am actually running a zombie survival campaign, and my PCs found some rescue stuff, including distress flares.

My English is somewhere between Broken and Accented, and I can't found any stats for such devices neither in GURPS Basic Set nor GURPS High-Tech. I want to be able to react quickly if they use it as a weapon!

Can you help me?

You should be able to use the stats fir the Walther Leuchtpistole, High Tech pp. 142,143, 144, & 171.

Or do you mean road flares (basically a stick with a magnesium fire on the end)? If that's the case, I'd use the rules for torches in combat, except that it won't easily go out.

See also GURPS Horror p.50 for hand flares and p.51 for some more flare pistol stats.

Searching for "flare" in GURPS High-Tech:
  • Hand (road) flares, pen flares, and laser "flares" all appear under Rescue Signaling Devices (p. 58).
  • Flare cartridges for specific small arms are described under TOZ TP-82 (p. 108) and Hawk MM1, 40×46mmSR (p. 143).
  • A dedicated flare pistol appears under Walther Leuchtpistole, 26.5×103mmR (p. 142).
  • Illumination rounds – a.k.a. "parachute flares" – for grenade launchers are described in Grenade Launcher Ammo (p. 143). Similar rounds for mortars are described in Royal Ordnance ML 2” Mk II, 51mm (p. 146).
  • General rules for signal flares for any 10mm or larger bore appear under Illumination (p. 171).

I meant flare pistols but the road flares will be useful too, I guess it's only a matter of time before PCs find some.

Default Another option --

In World War II the US armed services distributed a series of flare projectors to allow servicemen to signal rescue personnel. These were much smaller, cheaper, and lighter than the flare pistol, but were harder to use and, I suspect, not capable of projecting flares to the same height.

http://sipseystreetirregulars.blogsp...otechnics.html shows a similar item.
