Default Weapon Master: Chainsaw? How does the damage bonus work?

Various high tech melee weapons like chainswords and vibroblades add bonus dice to your damage roll. Weapon Master gives you a damage bonus per dice. How do they interact?

I can see three possibilities:

(a) Powered weapons aren't usable with Weapon Master. There is no damage bonus.

(b) The extra dice don't get the bonus, but it still applies to the basic dice from your ST.

(c) All dice get the bonus.

From Forceswords that get no effect on strength and do get the bonus.

I would think all dice get the bonus. Based on B269 I would say that +1d is just another way of writing +4.

Exactly. Wherever the dice come from (with the exception of any dice that you gain from Converting Adds to Dice, of course), they get the bonus. Weapon Master doesn't specify that the dice must come from your strength.

No, not at all! If a weapon does sw+4 damage, Weapon Master does not interact with that +4 in any way, shape, or form. Dice are dice, and adds are adds. If you are using the optional (note: optional) rule to convert adds to dice, you always do that after adding any "per-die" bonuses from high skill, etc.

For example, a ST 16 man wielding a maul does 2d+6 damage. If he has Weapon Master, he adds another +4 (+2 per die) for 2d+10. You may then choose (optionally!) to convert that to 4d+3. But a ST 17 man wielding a maul does 3d+3 damage. If he has Weapon Master, he adds another +6, for 3d+9, which optionally converts to 5d+2.

The only time I think it might be an issue would be dealing with a gadget instead of gear based weapon.

Why? You've already bought the gadget dice with points. Never mind that one mans gadget is another mans off-the-shelf force sword.

Character accounting. It becomes a good way to increase the damage of any innate attack by about 50% for cheap.
