buying Enchantments w/ hours of study (MedtiativeMag) vs Slow and Sure creation times
F161 describes:
"gaining one character point through 200 hours of study and spending it on 25 points of magical Signature Gear" That refers to energy costs to create enchanted items per Fantasy 131. 25 is enough to make five Mana Stones. That works out to 200/5=40 hours per Mana Stone. If this is divided into eight-hour days, that would be five days per each manastone created... That's exactly the length of time it would take to create a ManaStone if using the 'slow and sure' enchantment method... except it sounds like you wouldn't have to bother with learning the skills or making rolls. That sounds off, so what would good fixes be for that problem? T109 has one potential fix in modifying the energy/day up to Magery for those with magery 2+, so that could bring it ahead. M56 requires Magery 2 as a minimum for enchanting anyway. This would bring it ahead for solo casters, as would getting energy/day from assistants. Another might be the various options for reducing the time, such as T108's application of B346 Long Tasks rules, T109's suggestion of applying Time Spent, or the option to reduce production time by designing items of a Power below the lesser of your Enchant/spell skill. That and T109's suggestion of just using a blanket decrease of 50% or 75%. |
