Question about trap and duck

My wife ran into a trap, she then played the duck the trap card and i was affected by the trap. I was able to dodge the trap.

Who gets a DXM card for that trap?

I say me because she sent the trap to me...she says both because we both bypassed the trap..

Which one is correct?

The way the rules are worded, it's hard to accept any other interpretation than you both get a DxM. It's the word "whatever" in the following quote that really enforces that interpretation:
