I was sorry to hear of Andrew's passing. I think the original Wizardry was indeed a major influence on the then future of electronically played role-playing games. Perhaps less well know is that he was also an attorney.
As for Andrew Greenberg and the adversary Werdna.... One of my early role-playing characters became known on my (second) campus to the point she was mentioned several times in my college's newspaper. The spelling of the paladin's name wasn't always consistent. But the original spelling: Greben the Green.

Dang, I played this game for HOURS as a kid. I loved it, even though it was endlessly frustrating.
