Arlon: "The World? You expect others to come and finish the job?"

"Well, there you go. We can get a snack and check out the portals."

"No, I expect other to catch the rats that flee. The nest can be handled after we their tampering with the elder things. If they run, I'm willing to call it, 'job done'."

If the other golems are unresponsive, let's allow this one to show us to the larder and observe their process.

Arlon: "It appears I am outvoted. Its a small matter, but I think we shall have to turn to this headquarters of theirs, this den of undead, fulfilling the role of a headquarters. But it shall be enough to scout, and to attack their mystic center rather than their martial center. I shall wait and see, but..."

He lets his breath out. "sorry".

You look at the warrior golem. It has a hole for a key, but the one the girl in the room gave you doesn't fit. The Dwarf Golem moves the stone slab back into place, and returns to standing on it.

Vassarious asks the girl if she has the key to the other golems.

If she does not, Vassarious will attempt to use his shapeshifting to ooze part of his hand into the keyhole and feel the tumblers, and shaping his appendage into a key that fits.

Well that certainly beats my idea of "blow up/force over the golem"

"Which one?"

She throws the key at the person who asked.

The warrior pulls up the slab of stone under him and you see a much shorter stone ramp.

After it reaches the bottom, there is an alcove, and then a wooden door at the end.

In the alcove, A plaque has been carved into the wall. It has a hole that looks like it would hold a small stone, a hand print for a right hand, and the following runes carved below.

By this gem I swear loyalty to Polriket
By this hand I swear obedience to Polriket
By this throat I swear my life to Polriket

The plaque is surrounded by several deep gashes in the stone, but it itself is perfectly smooth.

"If I had to guess, you put a gem in there, put your hand there, and decapitate someone there."

Let's head on to the next room.

Opening the door, you see a 5 yard by 5 yard chamber. Hooks in the stone walls indicate where tapestries once hung. In the center of the room is what looks like a standing mirror, mounted to the ground, containing a portal crackling with energy on each side: one side is red, one side is blue. A chest is next to the portals, and a metalic circle 3 yards across inlaid in the floor gives off a gleam of light. The Mirror portal and chest are inside the circle.

An inscription crudely scratched into the wall says: "Red - No Weapons, Blue - No Magic"

Two more doors lead out of the room, one to the left, one to the right.

I suggest me and Haley check out the blue portal, and Vassarious and Arlon check out the red portal.

And I suddenly learn the DF people have a superstition about splitting the party in 3, 2, 1...
