Vassarious carries the wooden token, glad to not be an abomination...
It certainly appears we're in the right place to gather intelligence! Let's give a listen and look. They may be trying to recruit parties to what we want to do and go where we want to go already. If so we should join them... or follow them. |

So head for the tavern? Those poor DF adventurers. They have no idea what they're getting into.

Let's. I enter with all do grace. "Who's here to do something about the Elder Things?" I shout. Then I check out who seems put off by my brash approach. No kidding. |

The silence is broken by the tiny halfling barkeep calling out from the counter "Around here, an audience is purchased with drinks!" The Patrons cheer, and a dozen of what are either the thirstiest or the most interested gather around Halcyone. I'm not sure what is meant by put off. People who are offended or embarrassed? people who seem to find it threatening? I don't remember... Vassarious should absolutely have reptilian though.

Re: Corco's Villa (IC)
Vassarious has a drink at Halcyone's expense and enjoys the show while remaining a bit more subtle.
Their armor is covered in a cloak and they have the look of well muscled warrior of not particular status. Vassarious picks and chooses who he speak with while Halcyone plays the room. Like birds flushed to a hunter. " Why join the guard when we can bring the fight to them?" " The best defense is a good offense..." " We'd join those who seek the heart of the problem..." " Join up or form our own... " " A mage could come in handy." |

Re: Corco's Villa (IC)
Halycone spends about 50 copper ($50) making a scene and finding out that most of the people listening to her just want excitement and free alcohol. Only Jaline Bogworth, a human "expert in stealth" is actually interested in coming.
Halcyone notices that Arlinela, a shadow elf, is directing the conversation with a little too much skill to be causally interested. It might be worth talking to her later. V finds a Wood Elf Warrior with some sort of religious sigil and talks to her. Or rather, V talks and the Warrior grunts back. The Warrior is here to fight elder things. And might join up. Maybe. Much more talkative is Arlon, an air-infused wizard who cautions V about just how brash they're being: two groups of fully armed adventurers have disapeared in the last two months, and the elder things have a robust cultist organization that almost certainly has a presence in the city. Arlon shows their symbol: a rat embossed on a piece of metal. Arlon says he might be interested in going, if they can get a trustworthy group together. Even more talkative is Haley Hufestone, A dwarven cleric of Thurmad, God of machines. She is something of a historian on the portal nexus, and tells about Mad King Brogan the Demanding, the last ruler of the city built on the nexus. Brogan became enamoured with some sort of mind control effect, and the Order of the Gear sent a construct army to defeat him. They never came out, but neither did any of Brogan's men, so the order called it good for 300 years or so: mission accomplished. Haley seems to have some connection with the Order. She might possibly be here to see if they need to clean up their mess. What template is V walking around in?
