out of your $26,000 --- about 1.5%.

Vassarious will see if the informant is willing to fate-pledge that their benefit from their payoff be only as pleasing to them as the information proves to be for Vassarious... Using whatever phrasing seems appropriate to the fate=magic here.
Its not for sure without a witch backing it up... but a witch might be able to take advantage of it. The Beggar Readily Agrees.

Its spent. Your hive is in position.

Right. Let's leave a few swarms to keep tabs on her in case she meets someone relevant. Then let's go looking for V and the Chinese guy. I'll send swarms in one direction while I head in another to cover more of the city.
Crawlers or flyers?

You can just talk to V, if you want, to get their location. (Is V in a male or female form at the moment?)

Flyers are fine.

Given what happened the last time we tried that in a world where there was only one (admittedly an exceptional one) diviner, I think I'd prefer to take a slower route.

Vassarious' form appears as an imposing female, as I have the impression that the fate readers and witches are women here...

Feeling for the one handed man's plight, Vassarious parts with the large coin, only partly for the information.

Halcyone sends fliers all over the city, looking for V and the Chinese man wearing gold. She find Vassarious in the foreign quarter, and they meet there.

That's mostly, but not 100% true.

The Beggar thanks Vassarious for her generosity, and gives the name of the street, and in fact a description of which house the man is in.

Shortly afterwards, Halcyone catches up with her.

Its quite very late at night at this point, around midnight.

Vassarious extends their wish that both themselves and the beggar look back upon the exchange fondly.

They proudly deliver Halcyone the address so that they may send their little "buggy things" in advance of their arrival, and perhaps to get us directions...

Well let's hunt down this guy's house. I punch in the description of the house and send the drones out.

You find the boarding house quickly. It has five levels, and is overflowing with various guests from all over the world. The Chinese man with the gold on his head and hands has his own room. Its full of divination equipment, weaponry, and the occasional item of extreme wealth. The man has a full coat of armor, a rarity in this world. He sleeps with his jewelry on, and with one hand on his sword, and another on a carved jade dragon.

Very well. We shall seek lodging here then... perhaps we should slip a note under his door and invite the man to breakfast?

"Well if you think that's better than playing into his probable belief in fate by allowing us to 'incidentally' stumble into him."
