Rajat looks at the dog
"At least enough to make a break." They'll need someone to tell the other two to run for it.

Re: (IC) Lost In Dreams [Peter]
If peter feels he can get the message across using gesture without these guys noticing he will do so, otherwise he can go toward Goliath and try to draw their attention toward him while Rajat conveys the message.
Peter almost loses his cool and wants to start shouting orders, but he resists the urge, and sticks to the plan of keeping his magic secret unless he feels there is no other choice. |

Re: (IC) Lost In Dreams [Peter]
Rajat conveys the plan (inasmuch as "run when I say go" is a plan), and on his "Now!", everyone heads for the window. The black-cloaked men are surprised, but not very. Ann and Leon go for the windows first. She goes right out, but Leon fumbles getting through. Rajat is behind Leon. Peter leaps out of his window behind Ann and lands running on his feet (DX critical success!).
Peter feels spells being cast. Something like the Yaka voice: quick commands. Though these don't seem to have content, just force... was one cast at Goliath?

Re: (IC) Lost In Dreams [Peter]
...
Rather than a shout to "run" I wanted the actual signal to be to send Goliath out the window to lead the way... I was hoping him to be out of sight before they could react... How far is the spellcaster from Goliath? Is there any kind of ritual when they use magic? |

Re: (IC) Lost In Dreams [Peter]
That rather complicates the concept of a "Distraction", now doesn't it, when the distraction is the thing that moves.... That will change the timeline if you switch to it. You still CAN switch to it...
The Spellcaster would be rather close to Goliath in the scenario I described, but you wouldn't be able to see the ritual and probably not hear it either. in the "Goliath First Plan", Goliath won't be the target, but you personally might get a good look at the spell.... ***************************** So If goliath goes first, He goes out the window, followed by Ann, Leon still clogs up his window and the spells are cast at you and Rajat... that good?

Re: (IC) Lost In Dreams [Peter]
The dog freaking out is already distracting, then there is chaos when everyone moves...
This seems backwards... I would think if Peter and Goliath moved first, they would be the targets, but if Rajat yells "run" he would be. You usually don't attack the distraction, you realize it's a distraction when the "event' occurs and turn your attention there for action, only too late. (In theory anyway.) -- But that's fine, they can cast on Rajat and Peter. He'd rather protect Goliath anyway. |

Re: (IC) Lost In Dreams [Peter]
Goliath is at a longer range!
Two of the black-robed men cast their spells with a small gesture and a word. Peter feels the spell hit him with his magical senses, and with his physical ones as well. Its strong, powerful... But he shakes it off. He has the distinct feeling he got lucky (You rolled a 7 on HT). The third black cloak rushes around the building. Rajat is staggered by the spell, just standing there. Peter leaps out the window after Ann and the Dog. As he runs away, he feels the spells being cast twice more, and then they stop being cast. He's in a small village, sheds and huts are everywhere, surrounded by fields of long grain (about half of them) and some woods maybe a quarter miles away. he can see goliath running next to ann.

Re: (IC) Lost In Dreams [Peter]
Can we back up? I wouldn't want Peter to jump out without Rajat, can he grab him and pull him along as they flee? No man left behind!

Re: (IC) Lost In Dreams [Peter]
That would effect the timing of everything....
Peter can roll DX to go through a window in one round/second. Grabbing someone who weighs at least as much as he does and going through the same window is going to take at least two turns (one to grab, one to go through the window) and has a highish chance of failure: assuming no resistance, the 150 lb rajat puts the ST 9 Peter at extra heavy encumbrance, and that gives a -4 to that DX check to go through the window... Let me know which route you pick.

Re: (IC) Lost In Dreams [Peter]
Could he run and shove him to better effect? How far is he from the window?
When Peter feels the spell he resisted, he would try and grab Rajat. Our selfless hero would rather be caught himself than leave a man behind. If Peter uses extra effort to increase his ST to 12, moving him to heavily encumbered, would that improve his odds? If it is an Move and Attack - slam can he scoop him and get it done quicker? I'm willing to burn some fatigue here. Could a use of Serendipity set up a 'rube goldberg machine' like tumbling effect with Rajat going through the window? |
