Question about expanded influence rolls in Social Engineering
So I was reading the "Expanded Influence Rolls" box in Social Engineering (p. 31), which is an adaptation of a rule from GURPS Mysteries. Is it correct that margin of success is used in this rule, or should it be margin of victory?
And for those that use or have used this rule, do you think it works well or do you prefer the standard influence rolls from the Basic Set? |

Re: Question about expanded influence rolls in Social Engineering
It was margin of victory in Mysteries, but Social Engineering says margin of success. I'm not sure: see if Bill Stoddard weighs in?

Re: Question about expanded influence rolls in Social Engineering
It ought indeed to have been "margin of victory"; that's what I was thinking of, as suggested by the earlier phrase in that box
based on the margin of success in the Quick Contest (in that any Quick Contest properly has a margin of victory). My phrasing was careless, perhaps because I didn't actually like expanded Influence rolls; I was putting them in for the sake of completeness and apparently not thinking carefully about what I wrote.

Re: Question about expanded influence rolls in Social Engineering
I've reported it as errata.
