4 Both, if he worked for the Go'ald expys, 2. otherwise.
Teal'c was a bit of both due to being a Noble amoungst the Jaffa, and sort of a high level NCO as far as the Go'ald are concerned, he may have a useful opinion, but is still not actually important.

Some times Gurps has too many ways to do the same thing but if you really want to parallel Teal'c you choose some of the above and give it to give G'annan

In case it needs to be said, the poll remains open, especially as what we have now does not look like a clear consensus to me.

I'll go with 1: Sergeant.

I'm probably going to break the tie tomorrow if no-one else does (and if nothing inconvenient IRL happens to delay me), and then post a new question then or Mondayish. Currently thinking that it'll be about what sort of magic G'annan himself uses, or if he just uses magic weapons, but I'm open to suggestions if someone has another question they think needs to be asked sooner.

I regret that I don't have enough of an opinion to break your tie.

Alright, I'm breaking the tie in favour of 1; so, G'annan was a Sergeant in the Light Infantry before being assigned to spy work. Still editing the Question on his use of magic.

Re: [Space/Thaumatology] Stargate: Fantasy - Worldbuilding thread
G'annan of Frolec Question VI
What sort of magic does G'annan use, if any? Most likely he started out as a combat specialist, and then learned some spying magics later, though he could have branched out by way of some 'military scout' magics. 1. Material Magic (A tool-user, not a spellcaster - just has some sort of culturally-appropriate magic weapon, or a staff looted from a Jaffa). 2. Magic as Powers. 3. Spell-based magic. 4. Path/Book Magic. 5. Symbol Drawing Magic. 6. Magic as Social Connections. 7. Low Magic (probably similar to Material Magic in this context, but warrants a separate entry). 8. Something else (please specify). Please remember to include the number(s) of your preferred option(s) when you vote. ******* Answer: We have four votes for 1 and three votes for 2, and two of the votes for 2 suggest he learns it later; so, he's a tool-user, but I'm adding 'Latent Magic (Magic as Powers)' as a perk.
