Default DF 13 armor loadouts for DFRPG

A guide for using DF 13 with DFRPG.

For newbies, GURPS Dungeon Fantasy 13: Loadouts (aka DF 13) is a set of equipment loadouts to simplify the buying priocess. The armor in the DFRPG has different costs and weights than the armor in standard GURPS, and so this guide is needed to use the loadouts with DFRPG. Using an equipment loadout lowers the amount of fiddling needed to play.

Again, thank you for the work laying this out as well as stating the need for such a document more clearly than I did!

Was the link somehow lost when moving it to the new forum?

Excellent work, very useful !

Is it only the armor weight/cost that has changed ?

Everything else in DF13 is useable as is ? (Excepting obvious SM issues)

In essence, the cost a point of DR has gone up. Using the DFRPG instead of the GURPS Basic Set for armor will have weaker starting characters as they can't afford high DRs at start. The Fortify enchantment just got more demand as a result.

However, since DFRPG uses the armor from GURPS Low-Tech as its base, heavily-armored delvers will have lower loads, and thus higher Dodge and Move scores. So the power-level curve for armored delvers gets steeper.

I really wish they'd sync up these two games to get them as close as possible.

DFRPG use the armor weights from Low-Tech, which are considered by many to be an improvement and replacement for the Basic Set.

DF 13 Load-outs still uses the weights from the Basic Set because the DF line wasn't made to replace the Basic Set, where DFRPG was...

Low-tech is part of the main GURPS line. Sync them up.

That would require two things:

SJGames to agree with your position, which is unlikely, and a reprinting of GURPS Basic Set, which will not happen.

So does DF declare the only thing needed is GURPS Basic and no other sets should be used? The simple solution is to rework the DF line to include the necessary subset of gear. It's in DFRPG so it can't consume TOO much space. It is pages 95 -118 at most in DFRPG Adventures guide. So reproduce whatever is needed from that in DF1 (minimum is the tables).

Sync the two systems up so it's seemless moving between them.

Honestly I'd really like to see an Advanced Players Guidebook that would bring in more material to DFRPG from the DF line line.

Ideally the three main books expanded. Advanced Adventures Guide, Advanced Exploits and Advanced Spells.
