Default Looking for some new players every other sunday Noon Pacific (1900 GMT)

(I am a player in this game, posting with permission from the GM)
I can be messaged or you can post here with questions. I probably have more time to respond than the GM at the moment, but he will have to deal with character creation/plot decisions beyond mechanical advise.

The game is located on the West Coast of the USA, but we have all been playing over Zoom (paid host account) and are looking to add some new players to fill in gaps left by life's complications.
No VTT required (we use theater of the mind or a piece of paper) and Dice rolling is a combination of on camera, someone else rolls for you, or honor system (what ever strikes the GM at the time) again no utility required.
Social Skills and RP are more commonly used than combat, but obviously you want to have the ability to defend yourself.

We play from Noon Pacific (1900 GMT) till 6pm Pacific (0100 GMT), on occasion longer but never less than 4 hours. This time frame is unfortunately not flexible beyond perhaps an hour in either direction, because one player is in Europe playing 9pm-3am while the GM is in Pacific Time playing noon-6pm.

This Sunday '19 Sept' is a game day, and every other Sunday typically, though we have been able to add a few dates as time and life allowed, we try to keep this because most of us have real life that requires some planning to make this happen. We have been playing for 24ish sessions now and had a climactic chapter recently resolve, which puts us in a great place to add more people.

The game is in American English, and it can contain adult themes of sex, politics, religion and violence. American cultural references are not overly prevalent, meaning someone from another country with a good grasp of English would be able to join in (in fact it would be thematically appropriate).

It takes place in a moderately fictionalized "Modern" world (Primary setting is Las Vegas), present day 2021, taking inspiration from current events.
Its a sort of Secret Magic type of setting, in that the vast majority of the world is unaware or doesn't not believe in magic. Magicians on the other hand are very much a part of the 'mundane' society, often using magic to make that life easier.
There are various factions that think Magic is bad for the world or for humankind, but since Magicians are most effectively countered by using at least some forms of magic these factions have similar issues.
The game has gone through some tweaks (as it is a home brew concept) but the core has stayed the same.
---Its sort of Babylon5 meets Magic United Nations meets The Magicians.

Campaign Document (there is a newer version v50 that hasn't been formatted for the wiki yet, but its mostly mechanical clarifications)

One unusual RP factor is that you aren't part of a group of players with a unified goal, you're not in a "party". It's more that you interact with other players and NPCs to accomplish your goals and possibly work to thwart others (there are a lot of non-player potential antagonists). In the spirit of RPG we (players) tend to be more aligned with each other than not, but a recent plot line had two players go down an RP rabbit hole that put them in opposition and the resolution will have some long term effects on the game world.

We are currently 3 Adult Players and the GM, looking for 1 or 2 new players to add. We already have someone in the Celtic (Druid), and Classical (Roman gods) Traditions.
One player is currently building a new character (after retiring his previous one) that hasn't been determined yet.
The Viking tradition is central to an RP plot line at the moment that could make it a bad entry point for a new player.
The Gypsy Tradition recently closed a plot line that might make it a more difficult choice (you would inherit a great deal of backstory that the current players were a part of making, so they would be very aware of your tradition and its history. While thematically appropriate it could create complicated RP challenges to novice players).

Thank you for posting, Bo.

To recap, we're looking for players interested in urban fantasy, playing characters who are magicians from ancient traditions based on real-world myths, trying to promote their beliefs and figure out how to police each other while arguing over which applications of magic are moral. Violent action in the campaign has been infrequent and shocking.

TOMORROW is the next session, and as we have hit a lull, it would be a great time to meet a new player and discuss a character concept. PM me for a zoom invitation.
