Run Time Error 76 Path Not Found
This is driving me nuts. I can't get GCA to work after my Win10 upgrade. I think it may have something to do with there no longer being a My Documents folder.
Can anyone help?

Well, I don't know what was happening, but I installed it a few more times, uninstalled again, and then installed. It works now!

Re: Run Time Error 76 Path Not Found
I'm pretty sure GCA detects {PATH} then hard codes it so Microsoft changing the name of the folder doesn't affect it. Plus Windows 10 maintained the folder names used since Vista. I'm pretty sure there's a script in the GCA4 folder that resets all of the settings that would have fixed it.
The real problem is Visual Basic 6 is well past end-of-life and Microsoft is at the point of simply not caring if a Windows update breaks a VB6 program. Armin is working on GCA5 using VB.NET, but it's basically being done in his spare time and he won't see a penny until it's released and even then only royalties.

Re: Run Time Error 76 Path Not Found
I know this is a four year old thread, but I wanted all the answers in one place:
If you see this when you try to print (or print preview) a character that means that the character sheet file name in the character file itself is not there. This happened to me when I had a 10 year old GCA file, and I tried to print it on a machine different than the machine it had originally be created on. My fix: Open the character sheet (*.GCA4 file) with a plain text editor. Put an asterisk ("*") at the front of any line that has a full path name in it, when that path does not exist on your computer. (Or if you're lazy like me: just do it for all of them.) You'll probably find ten lines in three different places in the file. Joshua Levy |
