Default Pyramid Writers group

Hi All,

A while back someone was doing a pyramid help mentoring group. I've finally decided that I'm going to at least play with the idea and was wondering if anyone knows how to join and what the requirements are.

I'm having a little trouble figuring how to get started and understanding the format.

Ghostdancer is running it with Douglas Cole.
Good luck to you and I hope to see your stuff in print.

Email CR a rough draft of whatever you have. He can get you initiated into PWC, but remember, the first rule of Pyramid Write Club is you don't talk about Pyramid Write Club.

See this page. Do what it says.

Well, I run it - but Doug is my right-hand man and mentor. :-)

Ghostdancer, any updates on the situation with not using word? Because that's a big stumbling block for me.

Note: Chances are it doesn't matter as long as the names of styles applied to text isn't changing

Here's the situation for non Microsoft Word users: you can use it to write whatever, the problem is that when it comes to reveiwing it it doesn't save the style names so I (or another mentor) have to go back through it, apply the styles correctly, and/or resave it. It's a pain in the butt and adds a lot of extra work. Because of this I tend to sort actual Word users above OpenOffice/Libre etc. - its nothing against you, it's just a lot of extra work and sometimes I don't have the time to do that. That said, if I really like your article (as was the case recently) I will be willing to make the extra effort.

TL; DR I (and by extension the other mentors) don't get paid to do this. There is no reward in it for any of us. I do it because we like to help folks. Having to repour or reapply styles every single time I look at a file is going to frustrate me not incline me to help. That sucks, but that's what it is. I know not everyone can afford Word - it IS expensive - and that sucks even more. :-(

Sounds like I've got to hammer out one of my concepts a bit to have something worth showing.

Note that showing up with a reasonably thought-through mission statement and an outline we can at least ensure you're pointed properly.
