Resistant (Decompression) == Vacuum Support?
Hi guys
A very short question and probably a dumb one, but please help me understand. Is Vacuum Support equal to Resistant (Decompression) (Rare) (Immunity)? Both come to [5]... so I was wondering, would Resistant give you anything more than Vacuum Support? Cheers Onkl |

Vacuum Support gives you a few extra bonuses, so only go the Resistant route if you DON'T want the other effects.

From the sounds of it, Resistant (Decompression) would also help if you were underwater and surfaced too fast.

There's two scenarios of decompression here: Moving from several atmospheres of pressure to one atmosphere (the bends), and moving from one atmosphere pressure to almost none (vacuum). Logically, resistance to one should imply some sort of resistance to the other. So what does Vacuum Support offer that Resistance (Decompression) doesn't, and vice verse?

Vacuum support lets you 'breathe' vacuum.
Immunity to decompression lets you avoid 'the bends'. Possibly others, but I don't have my books on hand. |

People die from suffocation first when exposed to vacuum. The bends are when nitrogen bubbles out of your blood. Vacuum takes that a step further and boils water off and out of the mucosal membranes of the body as well as reverses breathing to suck oxygen from the blood. That's why no human can stay conscious for more than 15 seconds in vacuum.

Oh yeah, back then it was a big package advantage. Now the push is a bit more toward piecemeal aspects like a buffet table.
