Re: [IC] Lost in Dreams (Chandra)
"My parents work all day. They go away and tell me to stay close to aunt Mabel. Mommy is in the garden. But she says to stay out of it. But I don't like aunt mabel. This is her dress. I live in that one! <she points>"
As far as Chandra can gather, the its a farming community, and everyone works hard with their hands to make ends meet. While industrialization has come to some farms, this doesn't seem to be one of them. Housekeeping sounds like a good roll.

Ok, the dress is clean. What does she do next?

Re: [IC] Lost in Dreams (Chandra)
Chandra talks a little more with Sarah, trying to get some idea as to whether any other towns are nearby. If possible, she also tries to get her to brag about what she's learned in her lessons ... things like a first grader here would have learned, like the first president and so on.
EDIT: The Housekeeping roll was also to try to keep the dress presentable as well as clean, given that it's larger than her usual size and missing the normal undergarments.

Re: [IC] Lost in Dreams (Chandra)
The girl apperently hasn't been taught much beyond her ABC's and counting. And the first letter of her name. Chandra does get a reference to "the king". Wracking her brain, chandra figures that means she's somewhere in the first half of the 20th century, between victoria and elizabeth. Or that victoria died young. Asking about cars and trains reveals the girl has no idea what an automobile is, at least not by that name. She thinks of traveling in terms of walking or watching a rich man's carriage go by.
She doesn't think town in terribly far away, and when asked about the city, she says she's been there, which is unusual for a farm girl. They must be pretty close to a big city, but she doesn't know its name. OCC: Acknowledged about the dress.

Re: [IC] Lost in Dreams (Chandra)
"Thank you, Sarah. I'd beat be going now ... and I suspect you should, too. I'm very grateful to you and your aunt."
Chandra takes her leave and tries to find the road to town. It's tempting to chat with a farm family, but in a small community, a stolen dress will be recognized far too easily. She keeps an eye out for anything that might fit better or that might protect her modesty a bit more. "At least I shan't have to worry about garbling the King's English," she mutters. "Imitating that bush accent in the last world nearly drove me mad." Once in town, she'll also look for a newspaper or a newspaper office.

Re: [IC] Lost in Dreams (Chandra)
Sarah is quite put out by Chandra leaving, but Chandra manages to leave without any tears being shed.
Its a bright sunny day in england, which means that everyone is taking advantage of the oppurtunity to hang their clothes in the open air. There are numerous oppertunities to swipe something better fitting, though it will still be simple clothing. And her skin color draws lots of attention. Apperently indians aren't a normal part of british life in this region. Perhaps its just the town size. Or not. Its quite a walk into town, but its not a small town. By about noon chandra is on the streets of a bustling town -- or city. Current news papers cost money, but an old newspaper on the ground says the year is 1904. It also has a picture of on of the creatures in the photo on it and boldly declares "Hawfax Photographer Arrested for Sedition!" OCC: did she keep the items at the IW drop-off?

Re: [IC] Lost in Dreams (Chandra)
She does still have the items, secured in a pocket or purse. Once she has an opportunity, Chandra will sell Aunt Mabel's voluminous dress -- "surely someone will have a use for this much cloth" -- and take some time to study the newspaper a bit more. She'll also check the pockets of her newly acquired outfit to see if there's a forgotten coin or two. Besides the main story, she'll also be looking for day labor notices and for any classified ads that might be from Hailey's people.
