If the old ammo were actually using black powder, that has an autoignition temperature of around 464F, so burning cloth wouldn't work there unless the flame could come into direct contact with the powder.
Thanks. If old blackpowder, would we not have a nitro crystal issue, which might solve the ignition issue the exciting way.

The occult WWII campaign. One of the characters is being visited by a mysterious gentleman from Buckingham Palace, who waits to be invited into the flat.

Player 1, OOC: “That’s them trying to put people off the scent. Everyone knows the space lizards don’t need invitations.”

Later, we have gone to a country house for some training in basic secret-agent skills. The same character is very suspicious that his luggage will have been searched and things removed (there are some notable poisons in it). He can't find anything moved or missing.

Player 2, OOC: “The mousetrap you left under your socks now has a piece of cheese in it.”

Bella: "We want to buy the stupidest [stuff!]
Sharak: "You do not have enough. Stupid stuff is notoriously expensive."

Myles: "A flea market doesn't seem all that scarry."
Sarah: "Wait 'till you see the fleas."

Shopkeep: "Anything else? For your robotic servant needs?"
Halcyon: "They can't have that--they're too young."

The crazy people have no reason to invade us, the sane people do!"

After finding that tropical fruit sells for a good price in an alternate timeline with advanced technology:

"They're after me Lucky Bananas!"
"We've decided to become a banana republic"
"This campaign is brought to you by Dole"
"Banana!" -- by my wife, who was not playing, walking by and imitating a minion.

You could say my players went bananas.

From this afternoon's Shadowdark one-shot:

"Ah! A brand new set of dice never been rolled and full of luck! Ready to cope even with rolling 3D6 in order!"

".......and we have a 1 a 1 and a 1 for Strength."

"Oh Mighty Dungeon Master! My character has a 3 for Strength and a 7 for Intelligence and I beg of thee thy Pity!"

"I grant thee my pity and the right to roll a new character."

".....and we have a 6 a 6 and a 6 for Constitution! Well at least he'll have hit pts."

"Yes! Max hp for a 1st level Shadowdark character!"

"So, both dwarven Fighters have 9s for Int and 6s for Cha. The Halfling Rogue has a 7 for Cha but a 6 for Int. The Wizard has a 5 for Wisdom and 3 hp. The Rogue has 2 HP and the NPC Cleric has 1 hp. Does this sum up our group's weak points adequately?"

"You forgot our lack of sufficient encumbrance pts to carry all our stuff."

"Not a problem. You can hire an npc to do that."

"...and this is our lantern bearer. I call him _Light_.

"He doesn't look light to me. He looks pretty hefty."

"...and the Rogue is down! On her turn the cleric rushes to his side and attempts to cast Cure Wounds. She fails the Spellcasting check and can not cast that spell again until after a rest."

"But the Wizard makes the Int check to stabilize the Rogue before he's all dead.

"Light will have to carry him."

"At least he'll make a light load."

"...and the Cleric is down! But on her next Turn she rolls a 20 on the Con check and regains consciousness and 1 hp!".

"So she's as good as new?"

"Except she still can't cast Cure Wounds.

"Ah! but dying briefly is unexpectedly restful and she has regained her ability to Cast Cure Wounds! She gives the Rogue back 2 HP!"

"So he's as good as new too"

"She then moves on to the Dwarven Fighter who's lost twice as many hp as 3 of the party members have combined .....and she fails the Spellcasting Check and can not cast that Spell again until she's had a rest."

"Would it be okay to kill her again?"

"It's a Spear +!."

"It seems to be a Spear of Going Clang Against The Ceiling and Falling Down Again."

"That sounds like _Returns When Thrown_."

Let's be honest. We've all been there...

GM: "Oh this random name generator.*"
Player1: "What about it?"
GM: "It just gave me the name 'Patrick Stewart'. We're obviously not using that."
Player2: "Patrick Stewart is a great name!"
GM: "Ok, this guy** is now named Patrick Stewart!"
